Job Summary:The AVP /Chief Information Officer ( CIO ) leads the Information Technology Services ( ITS ) department for Juniata College, serving as a strategic advisor to college leadership on all technology issues. The CIO is responsible for oversight and strategic implementation of the organization’s information technology systems and infrastructure. The CIO aligns technology initiatives with the organization’s goals and objectives to drive innovation, modernization, growth, and efficiency. This leader is responsible for developing and maintaining a commitment to advancing technology solutions, as is required by today’s technology-savvy student. Building on a culture of customer service, the CIO will work to shape campus expectations regarding technology. The CIO is responsible for all aspects of information technology at Juniata College including enterprise systems, networking, academic infrastructure support, cybersecurity, IT policies and strategic plans.
Reporting to the Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs, the CIO leads and manages the Information Technology Services (ITS) division consisting of the following areas: Network Administration and Security, Application Administration, and the IT help desk. The CIO will have a broad level of familiarity with various constituents and a commitment to meeting the diverse information and communication needs that exist across all college areas and departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop, implement, and maintain a future-oriented strategic direction for all areas of campus information and technology services, projects, and partnerships of the college.Remain current on industry best practices and regulatory compliance requirements and implement best practices for IT operations.Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the ERP and other technology systems to enhance campus services and efficiency. Maintain ongoing relationships with supplier partners to manage service levels and upgrades, as required by the needs of the College. Administer Requests for Proposals, establish and administer contracts to defined service level agreements.Establish and manage the priorities for the ITS department that are aligned to student and campus requirements.Manage ITS human resources including recruitment, development, and evaluation of staff.Establish and enforce effective policies, standards, and procedures to ensure access, security, integrity, and availability of information.Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of all campus IT infrastructure.Develop and manage the IT budget to optimize resource allocation and attain financial goals.Serve as the Institutional information security officer.Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, including cybersecurity threats, data breaches, and system failures.Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to respond and recover from IT disruptions.Instill a culture of innovation, teamwork, customer solutions and continuous improvement within the department.Perform other duties as requested and assigned by supervisor.Juniata College is committed to cultivating an equity-minded and equity-engaged campus culture, one that is inclusive and supportive of its students, faculty, and staff. AA/ EOEBachelor’s degree in computer science/information technology or related field.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in information technology and resource management.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in support and service of mission critical support systems.Experience leading, supervising and developing employees.Exceptional written and verbal skills.Extensive knowledge/experience in contract review and conducting vendor negotiations.Excellent organizational and leadership skills across diverse disciplines.Experienced and effective fiscal management skills and knowledge (budgeting, forecasting, planning, allocation, and management).Experience and proficiency in project management, innovation and change management.Advanced knowledge of information technology hardware and software, end-user computing devices, computing networks, server and database systems, and system design.
