The Product Owner Role will be part of the Multifamily Technology team, helping to transform the way in which Freddie Mac does business. The role will help define, launch, and drive the product vision and strategy for the Multifamily Fraud function for years to come.
Your Work Enables Decision-Making and Falls into Three Primary Categories:
Understanding the needs of customers, internal and external, and their operational processes to identify, design and define solutions that can be effectively implemented to deliver value.
Understanding the business strategy and applying it to the prioritization of the product backlog.
Representing the Multifamily Technology team as the principal contact as a subject matter expert and product leader.
Qualifications:
5-7 years of mortgage related experience with demonstrated experience in Multifamily real estate.
Experience delivering large, complex change management projects that involve interfacing with multiple teams, especially projects involving changes to business applications and technology.
Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and deliver related value.
Strong analytical and problem-solving thought processes.
Ability to understand strategy and apply it to day-to-day decisions.
Top notch written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present to management and expertly facilitate meetings.
High level of comfort operating in the gray, and flexibility to work on multiple, concurrent assignments.
Keys to Success in the Role:
Work with the business stakeholders to set ambitious and clear product vision and communicate ‘the story’ effectively to key stakeholders and the rest of the team.
The main business POC for day to day execution.
Own the end-to-end product strategy from inception and determine business value once solution enters production.
Take a business process first approach, understanding current and future state business processes prior to solutioning.
Break business processes into capabilities and functional components (decomposition) and leverage the model for process reengineering and requirements gathering.
Ensure alignment of product features and stories, i.e., review, give feedback, and prioritize user stories in line with own vision.
Continuously improve backlog with the team, ensuring all items are clearly described, estimated, and prioritized.
Ensure customer-driven design considering user pain points & usability test results, using market & industry knowledge as well as continual research, to deliver a well-positioned product.
Approve each feature and story and provide valuable feedback for the team. Test each feature and story prior to approval.
Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Master and organizational technology teams.
Exercise strong decision-making mandate from executive group to own product end-to-end.
Work with Tech Lead to build a modular & reusable solution.
Facilitate the collaboration of cross-organizational teams to establish, develop, implement and rollout new and enhanced capabilities. Includes working with UX, Change Management, Development, Architecture, Data, and other horizontal cross functional organizations.
Communicate value and status to various stakeholders and levels of management.
Participates or leads activities that support system development & deployment (e.g. process redesign, Day 1 setup, risk & controls documentation, user acceptance testing).
Proficient in documenting risk & controls (e.g. policies, procedures, process flows, risk and control matrices).
