The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for overseeing and managing the compliance, quality, risk and ethics programs for Alivia Care and all of its subsidiaries and affiliates. This includes ensuring that the company complies with all applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies. The CCO leads efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to compliance issues while fostering a culture of ethical behavior and compliance throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and oversee the organization’s compliance programs, ensuring that they align with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those related to healthcare laws (e.g., HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law). Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues; and provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Stay updated on healthcare regulations and best practices; ensure that the organization is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal audits and investigations into compliance issues; develop and implement processes for reporting and documenting these activities. Oversee the development and delivery of compliance training programs for employees, management, and the board of directors to ensure they understand compliance requirements and ethical standards. Draft, review, and update company policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current regulations and industry best practices. Prepare and present regular reports to the CEO and Board of Directors regarding the effectiveness of compliance programs, highlighting key risk areas and recommending improvements. Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries and coordinating any necessary actions or reporting. Foster a company culture of compliance and ethics by promoting ethical behavior and decision-making across all levels of the organization. Required Skills and Competencies
In-depth knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, including but not limited to HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Stark Law. Strong leadership abilities with experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams. Ability to analyze complex regulations and assess the compliance impact on the organization; strong problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex compliance requirements to a variety of audiences. Strong attention to detail, particularly in the review and interpretation of regulations and policies. A strong commitment to ethical behavior and the ability to foster a culture of compliance and integrity within the organization. Ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Ability to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment and adapt to changes in regulations and industry standards. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, law or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred. Juris Doctor a plus. Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare compliance, with at least 5 years in a highly visible and responsible leadership role. Certifications: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or equivalent certification is required.
