Senior Computer Scientist
support the government in the development and application of high-assurance computer security systems hardware and software. This contingent position, expected to start late spring or early summer 2025, will support provide support on-site in the National Capital Region, from ARA facilities, and via telecommuting when approved. In this position, the successful candidate will work with Navy and other contractor personnel to develop next-generation high-performance computing standards, architectures, and applications.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or systems engineering and 10 years of relevant experience OR high school diploma and 15+ years of directly relevant experienceMust be a US CitizenExperience in the implementation of complex scientific and engineering models such as high-performance computing, computational logic, data analysis, or cryptologyExperience in design, development, and use of abstract models for reasoning about the trustworthiness and predictability of systemsExperience in design, development, integration and testing of software components, subsystems and/or complete systems, with emphasis on software for high assurance applicationsExperience in two or more of the following development languages; C, C++, Java, Python, Linux Scripting, PowerShell, Ruby, PHP, CSS, VBS, SQL or AssemblyExperience in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco network devices using the IOS command-line interface (CLI)Demonstrated experience operating and administering Spirent CyberFlood and Velocity test and automation solutionsExtensive experience with Ansible, including proficiency creating and using Ansible Playbooks, Roles, and Modules to automate IT tasks, configure infrastructure, and manage applicationsDesired Qualifications:Master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or systems engineering and 8 years of relevant experience orD. degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or systems engineering and 5 years of relevant experienceExperience in the research, design, development, implementation and testing of software to support airborne and space-borne sensor and communication systems, various wireless sensor and communications systems and unmanned vehicle and test platforms related to new communications capabilities and mobile systems securityExperience with testing and evaluating high assurance technologyExperienced in operating and administering network security and infrastructure platforms such as Cisco Routers/Firewalls, Juniper Switches/VPNs, Dell Switches, NetScout Switches, McAfee Intrushield IPSs, and Arista SwitchesExperience administering Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), including proficiency deploying and managing AAP instances, configuring authentication and authorization settings, and creating and managing inventories, job templates, and workflowsDemonstrate successful completion of Microsoft Azure Administrator course, Course AZ-104T00-A: Microsoft Azure Administrator or its successorsHold a current IAT-II certification, such as Security+ CE or CCNA-SecurityExperience operating and maintaining enterprise research and development networks, including government high-assurance computer systems and network environmentsCOMPANY INFORMATION:Applied Research Associates, Inc. is an employee-owned international research and engineering company recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems in the physical sciences.
