General Manager
We are seeking a proactive and experienced General Manager to oversee our manufacturing operations in Kansas City. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading a 400+ employee plant, ensuring optimal levels of productivity, quality, and safety to meet internal and external customer expectations. You will be directly responsible for the plant's financial performance, continuous improvement activities, and maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee compliance to all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
Identify training needs within the plant and review current training programs.
Provide leadership through adherence to all company policies and procedures.
Responsible for the financial performance of the plant.
Provide support for corporate activities such as Quoting, Costing, and Procedure development.
Directly supervises up to 8 direct reports in a 400+ employee, 200,000 sq ft plant.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Perform administrative/functional management of all elements of the operation.
Drive plant activities toward achieving customer awards and certifications (QS-9000).
Interface with customers and suppliers as required.
Monitor and drive continuous improvement activities in all departments of the operation.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping.
Provide direction and leadership consistent with the plant's business plan goals.
Identify key measurables that support business plan goals.
Manage the process technology expertise to keep a competitive advantage.
Provide leadership to meet customer expectations in all areas.
Manage the business plan, its objectives, and revisions as necessary.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Business or Engineering degree or equivalent degree.
Ten years related experience or supervisory experience and/or training.
Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in a leadership role overseeing large teams.
Strong understanding of quality systems and safety regulations.
Financial acumen with the ability to manage a plant's budget and financial performance.
Effective communicator with solid decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in the manufacturing of plastics.
Familiarity with QS-9000 and other quality certifications.
Proven track record of driving continuous improvement.
Experience interfacing with both internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and manage team dynamics effectively.
