DTCC offers a flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee).

The Impact you will have in this role:

In your role as a Director of Data Architecture at DTCC, you will play a major role to chart the course for our data strategy, tightly integrating it with our overarching business vision to drive innovation and growth.

You will:

Craft and steer a comprehensive vision for enterprise data solutions that harmonize with our corporate ambitions and pave the path for ground-breaking business outcomes.

Own the development of standard processes for architecture, engineering, and analytics development.

Stay at the forefront of industry trends and continuously refine our processes to ensure the highest-quality, innovative, and efficient solutions.

Define, develop, and enable enterprise data solutions.

Lead the architecture, strategic framework design, development, and implementation of data systems, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and secure.

Lead the design, development and evolution of an enterprise data architecture that supports scalability, agility, and innovation of data solutions and architecture in cloud platforms, managing the process effectively to ensure data security and compliance.

Cultivate deep collaborative ties with business unit leaders and stakeholders, examining their data needs to ensure the data strategy laser-focused organizational objectives.

Elevate and guide our data engineering and product teams on standard methodologies to cultivate a culture that prizes forward-thinking, agility, and continuous innovation. Lay the foundation of a robust data governance regime prioritizing data integrity, ethical use, and compliance as pillars of our data-centric approach.

Ensure data systems and platforms are designed and implemented to support next-generation data and analytics capabilities. Cultivate strategic partnerships with technology vendors, service providers, and industry leaders with vision to keep tabs on emerging trends and opportunities in data engineering.

Act as a critical liaison between technical and non-technical teams, simplifying sophisticated concepts and encouraging data-driven decision-making. Serve as the company's data ambassador, effectively communicating the strategic value of data engineering and architecture initiatives to stakeholders, including at a board level.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

Reviewing and translating business requirements into design artifacts and data models, employing core design principles.

Applying knowledge of SQL and other languages to profile data in source system(s)

Designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models that conform to existing standards and conventions.

Assisting the enterprise with evaluation of tools and technologies and their approval by the architecture review board

Developing mapping documents that demonstrate data lineage.

Creating and revising policies, standards, procedures, and mentorship

Developing and maintaining reference architectures and architecture patterns

Conducting walkthroughs of data architecture results with key partners at the project or enterprise level

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Computer Science or Information Systems)

Minimum of 15+ years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies.

Talents Needed for Success:

Thorough knowledge of Erwin Data Modeler (V9 or higher) or a comparable CASE tool

Thorough knowledge of data warehousing concepts and the ability to convert a physical design into a dimensional design.

Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts

Experience working as a member of and leading distributed data architecture teams.

Understanding of information systems and data life-cycle management standard processes and methodologies, formal systems engineering life cycle (SELC), and systems development life cycle (SDLC)

Thorough hands-on SQL experience

Solid understanding of cloud technology and tools as it relates to data architecture.

Experience with two or more of the following DBMS technologies: Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Microsoft SQL Server

Effective communication skills and customer relationship management skills

Expertise in Microsoft Office suite of products

Hands-on experience with ETL tool(s): (Informatica, DataStage, Talend, etc.)

Demonstrable experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools: (ex. OBIEE, MicroStrategy, Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight, Sigma, etc.)

Knowledge of and prior experience with metadata management tools (Collibra, etc.)

Desired Skills:

Experience with any commercially available industry data model (ex. IBM’s Financial Services Data Model)

Good understanding of the concepts in the financial industry, especially in trade, clearing and settlement

Experience with data cataloging, data discovery, data observability, and/or data quality tools

Certification:

Data management and data architecture related certifications (ex. AWS, TOGAF) are a plus.

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
