The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Analytics and AI Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Data Scientist reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science.
This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:The position is designed to support Data Analytics & AI applications across multiple departments, including Global Marine Operations, Newbuild Maritime Technology, ESG, and Safety/Security/Environmental. The primary focus will be on developing and maintaining the Marine Insights and Analytics Platform (MIAP) AI business solutions, which includes dynamic energy performance models, fuel forecasting, dynamic propulsion power monitoring, carbon intensity indicator monitoring, and hull performance.
The role requires an inquisitive individual who can work hands-on alongside other data scientists and machine learning professionals to deliver high-value business solutions. The candidate is expected to work independently and collaboratively with others to deliver new capabilities that will keep Royal Caribbean Group ahead of its competitors.
A successful candidate will possess a strong background, either professionally or academically, in statistics, mathematics, artificial intelligence, research methods, experiment design, developing novel solutions beyond the use of well-established methods, and taking new technologies to a prototype state that can be expanded into a robust product.
Core Responsibilities:
Interpret and analyze data problems using advanced modeling techniques
Build robust data pipelines using big-data tools
Combine data across different data systems and streams
Ensure data quality and integrity
Independently build analytic systems, predictive models, and optimization engines within a cloud environment
Test, monitor, and optimize performance of data-driven products using industry best practices
Ongoing self-improvement and experimentation with new models and techniques
Visualize data, create reports and dashboards, and build interactive apps
Plan projects and timelines for assigned projects.
Communicate competently with business stakeholders up to the director-level
Be a primary point contact for assigned business stakeholders
Responsible for change-management and urgent requests
Qualifications and Education:
Master’s degree in relevant field. Ph.D. strongly preferred.
3-5 years of experience working on projects relating to Data Analytics, Machine-Learning, and AI.
Minimum of 3+ years developing enterprise-focused analytics/AI projects.
Minimum of 3+ years of software engineering experience and must know Python.
Experience developing and implementing projects that link to core business such as ERP, MRP, BI, CRM, AM.
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of management.
Experience with Deep Learning tools and packages (e.g. TensorFlow, Keras).
Experience with frameworks and languages designed for big-data analysis (e.g. Pyspark, Dask, or Polars).
Experience with cloud computing frameworks or APIs such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
Strong background in one or more of the following: Mathematical, Statistics, Probability, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Recommendation Systems, Pattern Recognition, Large Scale Data Mining or Artificial Intelligence.
Demonstrates a strong capacity for learning and assimilating new techniques, tools, and methods.
Must be highly motivated as this position will require significant focus and energy to influence change as he/she will work with other team members to transform and help RCG continue to innovate in a sustainable and profitable manner.
