Clocktower Group, L.P.
Chief of Staff, China
Clocktower Group, L.P., Santa Monica, California, United States, 90403
Clocktower Group is an alternative asset management and advisory firm based in Santa Monica, California, with a presence in London and Shanghai. Our top-down macro framework and relationship-based investing approach inform our strategies and drive the way we do business. In public markets, we seed macro-oriented managers and invest in China-focused equities managers. In private markets, we invest in early stage fintech and climate disrupters. We also provide global macro research and advisory services.
While Clocktower Group is an alternative asset management firm, we are not your traditional financial services company. We believe successful investment approaches are predicated on sharing ideas, insights, and most importantly, building strong relationships. We have developed the world’s premier network of institutional investors, managers, and market thinkers focused on hedge fund and venture investing.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chief of Staff to support our Partner who leads our China-centric investment arm. As Chief of Staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful completion of the China team’s most vital tasks, as well as pushing current projects and strategic goals across the finish line.
A competitive candidate will be an independent learner with integrity and energy, committed to executing to the highest standard every time. You should be ambitious, extremely organized, and able to function quickly and efficiently. This is a challenging role that requires someone who is eager to dive deeply into the China-centric investment landscape. This multifaceted role requires strategic thinking, very strong communication skills and the ability to manage both people and projects effectively.
What you’ll do:
Strategic Partner.
Collaborate with our investment, marketing, and operations teams to establish and execute strategic initiatives that drive the growth and success of the organization.
Gatekeeper.
Ensure the China Partner is involved in decision-making processes at the right moment and manage their calendar and schedule. You will also ensure that the rest of the firm is up to date on all relevant happenings.
Project and Information Management.
You push within the team and across business lines to complete projects and coordinate internal and external deliverables. You will track high priority initiatives, identifying roadblocks, and collaborating with other team members as necessary, creating and maintaining systems and processes to streamline operations. You will also maintain open communication with all teams to ensure our China focused Partner is well-informed of all happenings.
Client servicing.
As we grow as a firm, we need to ensure that we’re servicing both existing clients and prospective investors. You’ll support the firm’s efforts to service existing clients and onboard new relationships in a multitude of ways.
Materials Creation and Meeting Prep.
Produce and edit marketing materials, tear sheets, investment memos, and other presentations. Collect and prepare information for meetings with staff, clients, hedge fund managers, and other groups within the Clocktower network.
Team Player.
Work with the executive team on an array of tasks and projects, e.g., you’ll support anything from light scheduling to producing complex presentations, strategic planning and conference planning.
Requirements:
3 to 5+ years of work experience in the asset management industry or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.
This role must be onsite 3-4 days per week in our Santa Monica office. Sometimes 5 days a week depending on business need.
You can run fast and make things happen — you can work independently and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Relentlessly attentive to detail and display a strong work ethic.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a genuine interest in building and maintaining relationships.
You maintain a commitment to honesty and hold yourself accountable to the highest standards.
Proficient with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. CRM experience is a plus.
What you’ll get:
All the resources you’ll need to learn and grow.
Independence to run with your ideas.
Joining an elite team that works with some of the most sophisticated investors and entrepreneurs in the world.
World-class benefit programs, including options for health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan (with matching), generous vacation, and sick leave.
Delicious, healthy lunches and snacks.
Beautiful office space with amazing ocean views.
Clocktower Group is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other status protected by law.
While the roles at Clocktower are primarily desk-based and do not typically require significant physical demands, employees in these positions should be able to:
Sit for extended periods.
Use a computer and other office equipment effectively.
Occasionally lift and move lightweight office supplies or materials.
