As our Principal/Director of Fund Operations, you will manage the full scope of fund operations across the firm’s products and ensure efficient and effective processes. You will lead a team responsible for various fund-related activities, overseeing daily operations, compliance, and reporting. Your leadership and expertise will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of our fund operations and contributing to the overall success of our organization.
What you’ll do:
Team Lead.
You are responsible for leading, managing, and training Fund Ops team members and will report directly to the COO.
Fund Accounting and Venture Valuation.
You work with the fund administrators on the monthly and quarterly NAV accounting for our hedge fund seeding and venture capital funds. This includes maintaining a shadow book to verify and approve the administrators’ calculations and leading the valuation committee in determining valuations for venture portfolio companies. Additionally, you will work with the fund’s auditors to finalize the annual audited financials.
Fund Operations.
You are responsible for all fund operations, including managing other Fund Ops team members to plan and execute capital calls, perform cash reconciliations, manage fund wires and cash flows, and monitor and pay fund expenses.
Fund Launches.
You drive the operational aspects of launching new fund products and co-investment vehicles, including onboarding service providers, opening bank accounts, and coordinating with internal and external legal counsel on entity formation and fund documents.
Hedge Fund Seeding.
You play an integral role in helping our hedge fund seeds launch and grow their businesses, leveraging your own expertise as well as that of our seed investors to provide best practices to seed managers. Your expertise contributes to our due diligence efforts on potential seeds and communications on such to clients.
Firm-Level Tax & Finances.
You work with other Operations team members and the firm’s management in preparing the firm’s tax filings for its various entities, developing budgets and monitoring and forecasting cash flows for the firm.
Qualifications & Attributes:
BS in Accounting or Finance.
8 – 10 years’ experience in investment management; experience at a venture capital or private equity firm preferable.
Strong US tax background.
Strong technical skills and analytical ability, good judgment, and a strong operational focus.
A keen eye for accuracy and a commitment to maintaining high-quality fund operations.
The ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, adjust to changing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This role must be onsite 3 days per week in our Santa Monica office.
While the roles at Clocktower are primarily desk-based and do not typically require significant physical demands, employees in these positions should be able to:
Sit for extended periods.
Use a computer and other office equipment effectively.
Occasionally lift and move lightweight office supplies or materials.

Salary Range:
$175,000-$225,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, training, education, and scope of the role. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and carried interest.
