Here, you will grow your career and help create access to fair, affordable housing finance.Given the increase in natural disasters and potential for increased credit losses, we are seeking someone with deep property and flood insurance industry knowledge.As a valued colleague on our Servicing and Insurance Policy team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Single-Family servicing and insurance policies and implement changes that align with Fannie Mae's strategy. In this role, you will ensure policies reflect the appropriate risk tolerance and compliance with all relevant regulatory guidance, as well as provide guidance on internal policies, business standards, and regulatory interpretation. You will provide expertise to internal and external customers and industry participants.We have one opening for this job and it can be worked on a flexible hybrid basis from our Washington, DC, Plano, TX or Reston, VA office.
If you do not reside near or are not local to one of these offices, you will need to cover your own travel expenses when asked to come into your assigned Fannie Mae office. In-office work would be driven by business needs but may be 2-4 times/year.THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKEThe Senior Insurance Policy Analyst role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:Develop and refine the enterprise's Single-Family servicing and insurance policies, including property and flood insurance related requirements.Apply technical understanding of insurance industry practices and principles and review and analyze policies to ensure alignment with the evolving industry, regulatory, and economic landscape.Research regulatory interpretations and leading industry practices and make recommendations for new policies and standards to manage the credit book.Evaluate and monitor emerging risks and regulatory changes to ensure our policies remain current and risk appropriate.Evaluate market trends or other relevant data in developing policy conclusions, including preparing reports or analyses for management or larger groups with findings and recommendations.Consider, where applicable, relevant enterprise systems and processes to develop optimal policy guidance.Ensure clear and consistent communication of Fannie Mae’s policies through authoring formal policy communications.Provide policy support and expertise on broad corporate initiatives that further Fannie Mae’s strategic mission and enable innovation.Respond to policy inquiries and policy-related customer engagement requests.May attend meetings with customers and industry participants to gather information pertinent to developing policies and standards to manage the credit book.May lead data analytics and policy development within the unit or an integrated effort with other corporate departments, FHFA and/or Freddie Mac.THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAMMinimum Required Experiences2 years of experience in property and flood insurance industry policies and practices.Ability to develop a policy development project timeline and meet key governance and completion milestones.Risk assessment and management skills, including evaluating risk and identifying controls and mitigants associated with policy requirements.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present appropriately to audiences at all levels both internally and externally.Experience collaborating across different functional areas and business units.Ability to gather accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questions.Execution-oriented self-starter with exceptional time management and prioritization skills.Intellectually curious with strong problem solving and/or analytical skills.Desired ExperiencesBachelor's degree or equivalent.4-6 years of experience in property and flood insurance industry policies and practices.Experience in the primary or secondary mortgage market.Ability to interact with and influence others at all levels of the organization.Fannie Mae is a flexible hybrid company.
