Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of ITS Engineer, we'll count on you to:Work, as a project engineer, under the direction of the project manager and senior engineers, on ITS and traffic management system projects including Planning, Engineering, Design, Integration, Deployment, Operations and Maintenance, Communications and overall Management.Develop Systems Engineering Analyses, ITS Architectures, Concept of Operations, ITS and TSM&O Master Plans, TMC Standard Operational Procedures and Performance Measures Guidelines, ITS design plans, ITS equipment specifications, along with subsequent testing, operations and maintenance activities.Develop plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) design packages for freeway, arterial and transit ITS systems, including fiber optic and wireless communications systems, power distribution systems, CCTV, DMS, vehicle detection systems, HAR, RWIS, traffic signal interconnect, transit signal priority, lighting control systems, and other ITS technologies and sub-systems, such as freeway open road tolling and managed lanes technologies.Design & implement National ITS Standards, Open Road Tolling, Active Traffic Management, communications systems, power distribution networks, lighting control, and traffic control equipment.Develop, update and review design documents, technical specifications and other project related documentation.Participate in Automated Connected Electric and Shared (ACES) vehicle projects and emerging technology projects.Implement QA/QC procedures and execute training for junior staff.Perform other duties as needed.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.5 years of experience in ITS and traffic engineering for urban and rural highways.PE License required.Knowledge of regulations of state and federal transportation agencies.Proficiency with Microstation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Excel, Word.Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.Ability to work in a team environment.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred QualificationsExperience in industry standards with NEC, NEMA, MUTCD or IEEE standards.Active involvement in professional societies.Diverse experience in related fields such as toll roads, roadway design, or construction is a plus.
