What You Will Do
The Product Realization and Reliability Office (PRRO) in Pit Technologies consists of a multidisciplinary group of engineers and scientists that support plutonium programs (i.e., pit production, surveillance, research & development, and subcritical experiments) across the entire Pit Technologies (PT) Division.
PT Division is seeking recent graduates looking for a challenging postgraduate internship at the post-baccalaureate level to support standardization of process and data usage in support of factory floor improvements. This role may focus on one or more areas such as standardization of information collection practices, engineering solutions for leveraging data to drive factory floor change, and linking the information with other systems (PLM/MRP/MES/RMS etc.). The postbac position will provide as-needed support to different digital engineering initiatives and achieve a broad understanding of the digital engineering domain. Training for specific digital engineering capabilities will be provided. You will be provided with a mentor, challenging projects, and the opportunity to present your work and progress to laboratory colleagues.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:Supporting the development of continuous improvement opportunities that leverage digital engineering capabilities under the leadership of their mentor.Supporting capability leads in developing specific digital engineering capabilities from concept through to production implementation.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:Experience planning and executing projects of low complexity.Strong documentation skills; demonstrated ability to document technical results in a formal method/format.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Strong presentation skills.
Desired Qualifications:Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with shop floor personnel and cross-functional teams.Proactive mindset with a passion for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.Introductory understanding of databases and information models.Ability to code simple programs / proof of concept within an object oriented language.
Education/Experience:
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an ABET accredited institution completed within the past 3 years with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
Work Location:
The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. Obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
