Mission or Goal of Unit:
The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism manages the Center for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, the region’s most comprehensive program for children with diabetes and other endocrine disorders. The center offers medical care, clinical trials, medical nutrition therapy, diabetes education, nurse navigator, social work, psychological support, all in one convenient location.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU Seeks a candidate interested in a PRN position. This candidate should be eager to participate in a busy outpatient and inpatient clinical program in a collegial atmosphere. The Division is home to a robust clinical service, an accredited Fellowship Program in Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, and a successful multidisciplinary research program in childhood obesity and clinical trials in type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The Virginia Commonwealth University is the largest and most diverse university in the state and provides support for clinical research through the Office of Clinical Trials in the Department of Pediatrics and the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR) which is part of a national CTSA consortium and is supported by award No. UL1TR000058 from the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Advancing Translational Science.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching - Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Pediatric Endocrinology. Faculty will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents, Chief Residents, and Fellows when applicable.
Research - Faculty member will have required research responsibilities.
Service - Faculty member will have no required service responsibilities.
Clinical - Faculty member will serve as a Pediatric Endocrinologist for the Departments of Pediatrics.
Required Qualifications:
Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology
Experience with clinical care of patients
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in an academic medical center
