This individual will lead technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the technology services organization. This individual ensures that cloud tenants, system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures.This individual is accountable for the following systems: Azure/365 Tenant Management, Server Environments for On-Premises Hosted Data Centers, Virtualization Systems, Storage systems, Software Development Schematics, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Maintenance and Capital Budget planning and projects as assigned by the Technology Services Director.The Details:
This position is remote, with a preference for candidates close to one of our offices in either Tacoma, WA or Brentwood, TN.In this role, you will be responsible for:Database Administration:Designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems to ensure high performance, security, and availabilityMonitoring database performance, implementing changes, and applying new patches and versions when requiredPerforming regular database backups and recovery proceduresOptimizing and tuning database queries for efficiency after being released to productionCollaborating with developers to design and optimize database schemasEnsuring data integrity and security by implementing appropriate measuresCreating and maintaining documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policiesTroubleshooting and resolving database-related issues and providing support to end-usersConducting regular audits to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAAPossessing proficiency in database management systems including related tools (e.g., SQL Server, data lakes, document stores, event hubs)Possessing a strong knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance tuningHaving familiarity with database design, documentation, and codingPerforming application ecosystem troubleshootingInstalling, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server instances and related softwareMonitoring and optimizing database performance, including indexing and query tuningImplementing and managing database security measures, including user roles and permissionsPerforming regular backups and ensuring reliable recovery processesApplying patches and updates to SQL Server to maintain security and performanceTroubleshooting and resolving database issues, ensuring minimal downtimeConducting regular audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulationsDeveloping and maintaining documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policiesProvisioning and configuring Azure SQL databases to meet application requirementsMonitoring and optimizing database performance, including indexing and query tuningImplementing security measures, including firewall rules, encryption, and access controlsManaging automated backups and configuring point-in-time restore optionsScaling databases up or down based on performance and storage needsEnsuring high availability and disaster recovery using geo-replication and failover groupsOptimizing cost by managing resource utilization and selecting appropriate pricing tiersIntegrating with other Azure services for enhanced functionality and analyticsComplexity/Problem Solving:This position owns a variety of production services and provides direction to others. This position offers an annual salary range of $120,000 to $160,000.
