The

Director of Development, Corporate & Foundation Relations

shall manage the organization’s efforts to secure funding from corporations, foundations, and other community partners who wish to invest in Roosevelt University’s mission through charitable giving. The Director will identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, develop and implement strategic fundraising plans, and write gift proposals and reports. The Director shall partner with senior leadership and program staff to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and priorities. The position requires strong communication, project management, and analytical skills to ensure the successful acquisition and stewardship of major gifts and sponsorships.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:A minimum of 5-7 years of higher education and development experience, or related professional experience. Experience in corporate and foundation relations strongly preferred.Demonstrated persistency and ability to cultivate and close on gifts over $10,000.Ability and energy to build new relationships and communities on an ongoing basis.Strength in developing and executing strategic and comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve goals. Ability to evaluate the success of these efforts through quantitative and qualitative data, and to make revisions based upon this data.Ability to work collaboratively across disciplinary and interdisciplinary lines, and to interact successfully with a diverse constituency of varying backgrounds.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver an effective and consistent message and communication style that is compelling. Strong attention to detail, and an established understanding of multi-channel communication strategies.A self-starter who takes initiative, has an ability to work independently, highly developed organizational and leadership skills.Candidate must communicate and employ interpersonal actions that model responsible, accountable, and ethical conduct — in line with the University’s mission and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.Demonstrated organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.Adherence to CASE standards and commonly accepted industry standards relating to fundraising reporting. A strong understanding of best practices within annual giving, donor engagement, stewardship, planned giving, and corporate/foundation relations.Demonstrated computer competency and knowledge of Word, Raiser’s Edge database management, and marketing automation tools.Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.Ability to travel in and out of state.Essential Job Functions:Partner with the Vice President of Advancement to create and implement a corporate and foundation development plan that resources Roosevelt University’s strategic objectives through creative, effective, and ambitious fundraising.Identify and research new corporate and foundation partners. Recommend proposal and solicitation strategies to senior leadership, and opportunities for engagement of organizational leaders.Facilitate, organize, and execute fundraising activities to ensure an outward focus on building relationships, advancing giving strategies, closing gifts, and meeting annual fundraising goals.Coordinate, prepare, and submit high-quality gift proposals and sponsorship requests. Provide timely and accurate reporting to funders on the use and impact of their contributions. Collaborate with campus partners to ensure effective and efficient use of each gift.Develop and implement creative stewardship strategies to maintain and enhance corporate and foundation relations. Oversee the recognition and acknowledgment process for corporate and foundation donors.Collaborate with the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs to ensure that the University’s corporate and foundation giving efforts are strategically aligned with grant-funded programs, with a focus on enhancing, sustaining, and expanding those initiatives.Actively contribute to the University’s community engagement efforts, helping Roosevelt become a key community asset—building partnerships centered on continued education, workforce development, internships, and philanthropy.Percentage of Time:60% - Serve as an expert and leader for evidence-based, impactful fundraising strategies across corporate/foundation giving and event sponsorships for a portfolio of approximately 75 constituents.20% - Oversee and streamline the University’s sponsorships program to underwrite events and specialized programming—this shall include financial contributions, as well as gifts of expertise, resources, and support.20% - Other related functions as assigned.
