is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.POSITION HIGHLIGHTS100% remote opportunityValues-based work environmentActive departmental Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee15 days of vacation your first year – Also, 12 days of sick time, 1 personal holiday, and 11 paid holidays each year100% matching, 100% immediately vesting 403(b)PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the direction and priorities of the Manager by coordinating and overseeing operational activities and system maintenance to provide reliable, high bandwidth, secure, and resilient network services to UW Medicine.Prioritize and distribute the workload throughout the team, managing the day-to-day workflow, and reporting to the manager the status of work assignments.Provide a point of escalation for operational and other service issues.Identify and propose service management improvements.Provide advice, coaching, and mentorship to team on work techniques, best practices, and operational expertise.Serving as the manager’s delegate to represent the team to customers, project managers, technical leadership, and organizational management.REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.10+ years' experience in network engineering, implementation, or operations must include the following:1+ year(s) of formal mentorship for technology professionals.Proven experience implementing, managing, and maintaining advanced level security and network infrastructure for large scale enterprise, including hardware/software firewalls, VPN, remote access, datacenter networks switches, load balancers, and a variety of monitoring systems.Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP stack, IPv4, IPV6, Multicast, and related troubleshooting. Must be able to capture, correlate, and analyze network packet traffic.Advanced level experience with routing and protocols OSPF, BGP, Multicast STP, and MSTP in large environments.Advanced level experience in the development and support of production mission critical systems and applications.Advanced level disciplined troubleshooting methodology, paying close attention to detail.Advanced level experience maintaining detailed configuration and testing documentation.Advanced level experience with documentation, integration, customer support documentation, and service development.Advanced understanding of AAA and IP network security.Advanced knowledge of 802.11 family and related protocols.Advanced level experience with VLANs, DHCP, IP management, and other necessary data network standards.Exemplary track record of successful, increased responsibility, and decision making, including successful design and deployment of major, large-scale leading-edge network constructs inclusive of automation and virtualization technologies.Exemplary track record of successful evaluation and proof-of-concept of implementing edge network technologies and tools.Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, Wireshark, Nmap, and Tcpdump or equivalent.Proficient with supported Microsoft Windows, MAC OS, and Linux.Proficient with supported mobile operating systems such as IOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android.ABOUT UW MEDICINE – WHERE YOUR IMPACT GOES FURTHERUW Medicine is Washington’s only health system that includes a top-rated medical school and an internationally recognized research center.
