The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators is a national nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that works to develop public policy for recreational boating safety. NASBLA represents the recreational boating authorities, the Boating Law Administrators (BLAs) of all 50 states and the six U.S. territories.The organization offers a variety of resources, including training, model acts, education standards, publications and more. Through a national network of thousands of professional educators, law enforcement officers and volunteers, NASBLA affects the lives of over 85 million American boaters.Recently, with the departure of its multi-decade serving CEO, NASBLA has challenges in determining the path forward. The new CEO will work in close collaboration with the Executive Board (Board) and devoted volunteers to determine a refreshed vision for the organization.Responsibilities
The CEO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations, including:Program developmentFinancial managementStaff supervisionMotivating and empowering the team to achieve their best workPlanning, budget development and managementDevelopment of programs and eventsCoordination of committee activitiesAdvancing the public policy agendaBuilding and maintaining relationships with NASBLA membersPerformance will be highly weighted on adding membership value, establishing sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with industry partners and related government entities/organizations/associations.Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:A proven record in visionary strategic planning and executionExceptional communication skills (written and oral)Experience in nonprofit governanceHigh level of business acumenExperience in increasing operational efficienciesAn undergraduate degree from an accredited college or universityContinuing professional education and board leadership in a state or national nonprofit, professional or trade association (highly beneficial)CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation (highly desirable)Experience in boating safety is not required but knowledge of the field and passion for the mission would be highly advantageous.
