Job Category : GeoTech CenterThe Atlantic Council GeoTech Center is seeking an exceptional and driven individual, well-versed in project management and research, to oversee the delivery of an expanding portfolio of global technology policy initiatives. As the Assistant Director, the candidate will assume a pivotal position in steering, crafting, and coordinating the Center's efforts, which encompass a mix of virtual and physical policy workshops, events, analytical briefs, special studies, and exclusive, high-caliber meetings.Candidates must possess a deep understanding of the impact and societal relevance of emerging technologies, coupled with a robust history in project oversight, and event and program coordination. Essential skills include outstanding organizational and communication capabilities, exceptional writing proficiency, and a keen grasp of policy and regulatory matters. The ideal applicant will exhibit an entrepreneurial mindset, articulate ideas clearly, thrive under pressure, and adapt quickly to a dynamic and expanding environment. Creativity, initiative, and a documented history of successfully supporting research and editorial endeavors are crucial, alongside experience supporting in-person and virtual engagements with policymakers, industry leaders, and subject matter experts. Experience in copy editing, public speaking, and research-driven and creative program ideation on pertinent topics is also highly valued.This position is based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office.Job responsibilities:Project Management and Strategic Planning:
Assist in the coordination and oversight of key projects related to the Center’s core pillars around Critical and Emerging Technologies including Artificial Intelligence and leveraging space technology for positive global outcomes including climate mitigation, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic objectives.Event Coordination and Engagement:
Lead the organization and execution of GeoTech events, managing both in-person and virtual formats.Administrative Leadership and Support:
Provide essential administrative support to the Center's leadership, ensuring smooth operations and efficient management of resources.Project and Stakeholder Management:
Oversee a diverse portfolio of ongoing projects from proposal, execution to impact analysis, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and Global Influence:
Serve as a key resource on artificial intelligence (AI) related topics, providing insightful analysis and contributions to global conversations.Internal and External Representation:
Act as a representative of the GeoTech Center within the organization and at external events.Expert Network Liaison:
Support engagements with the Center’s network of senior fellows and external experts.Research and Analysis:
Support and conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging trends and policy developments.Documentation and Reporting:
Take detailed notes during events and meetings for internal and external distribution.Qualifications:A minimum of three years of direct professional experience or in a related field.Preferred advanced degree in International Affairs, Geopolitics, Technology or Data Sciences.Proven ability to lead projects and events from conception through to execution.Demonstrates a proactive approach, with the ability to anticipate challenges.Exceptional organizational acumen and project management capabilities.An entrepreneurial spirit underpinned by a robust work ethic.In-depth understanding of critical issues and key figures in data, technology, and policy.Versatility in community management and engagement with thought leaders.Excellent command of the English language, with superior writing and editing skills.Proficiency in foreign languages will be considered an added advantage.To produce quality work and to successfully achieve our mission, we recognize the need for our staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a work/life balance.
