Our offshore portfolio consists of the first-in-the-nation joint venture project Vineyard Wind, which will deliver 800 MW of clean energy into Massachusetts starting in 2023; Park City Wind, an 804 MW project to serve the state of Connecticut; and Kitty Hawk Offshore Wind that has the potential to deliver 3,500 MW of clean energy into Virginia and North Carolina.

This role will be part of a team developing, designing, constructing and operating large scale offshore wind projects which will provide affordable, clean energy and will have a transformational impact on local communities.

Job SummaryAvangrid Renewables is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to report to the Contracts Director, develop contracting strategies and plans, and manage the tendering, negotiation, and execution of a wide range of offshore wind execution and development contracts for the New England Wind project. The individual will assist in the management of contractual and commercial risks and seek out opportunities to optimize and drive the performance of various supplier contracts.

The successful candidate will support a variety of activities within offshore wind execution and development package, including environmental surveys, vessel chartering research, telecommunication, permitting, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and engineering support.

Job Duties

Manage the tendering and negotiation of offshore wind execution and development contracts for the New England Wind project.

Attend, lead, and provide contractual support in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to ensure all parties are informed about contract content and documentation.

Prepare contracts with internal stakeholders using contracting strategies that appropriately address risk and manage expectations.

Ensure relevant guidelines, processes, and procedures are included in final contracts.

Process variations following project procedures, purchasing procedures, and contract terms.

Coordinate procurement and tender activities and train project teams on key risk areas.

Facilitate delivery of the project’s interests in preparing for negotiations with Contractors.

Undertake detailed contract reviews and analysis.

Make commercial recommendations and provide advice on key commercial risks to internal stakeholders.

Track effective and expiration dates for all contracts.

Manage reassignment of contracts between affiliate entities, as needed.

Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external Contractors, partners, and research organizations.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Bachelor's degree with a total of 10 years in relevant discipline – Contract.

IT literate, with the ability to operate Microsoft Office systems and other IT-based project management software.

Extensive commercial, contractual, technical, and practical knowledge of energy industry standards.

Experience managing multiple small or medium-sized suppliers within the energy industry.

Experience with Requests for Proposals and tender processes for contracts.

Proven track record delivering complex contracts preferably within the energy industry.

Excellent project management and leadership skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Able to adapt and work in a fast-paced working environment.

Minimum Criteria

Strong understanding of contract content and contracting processes including issuing Requests for Proposals, managing tenders, evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and driving forward contract execution. (Essential)

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced working environment and be responsive to change. (Essential)

Ability to manage different tenders and suppliers at the same time. (Essential)

Excellent project management, organization and leadership skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with contracting in the energy industry and knowledge of energy industry standards.
