The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading a team of professionals in developing, implementing and overseeing the company’s compliance and ethics program, and ensuring BCBSKS operates with the highest standards of compliance. This role requires a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and ethical standards, and a strategic approach to risk management. The CCO will work closely with various departments to ensure adherence, while fostering a culture of compliance and ethical behavior throughout the organization.
This position is eligible to work hybrid (9 or more days a month onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment.

What you’ll do
Oversee compliance with all federal and state laws and programs, including Medicare and other government programs, HIPAA privacy, corporate regulations, BCBSA franchising requirements, and corporate accreditations necessary for participation in government programs.Maintain the company’s compliance program to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the organization on compliance-related matters.Create and deliver corporate and regulatory compliance reports for the BCBSKS board committees, the Corporate Compliance Committee, and other organization leadership.Provide leadership in managing and enforcing the corporate Code of Conduct.Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and oversee regulatory inspections and audits.Oversee the Privacy Program and provide supervisory guidance to the Privacy Officer for the corporation.Provide direction and guidance to a team of compliance professionals in preventing, detecting and correcting compliance risks through each of the following activities:
Monitor the regulatory environment and assess business practices to determine whether the company complies with applicable laws, regulations, and rules; identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks associated with business operations.Support implementation of new legal, regulatory, and other requirements, including collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure business areas understand the requirements, establish policy and procedures and can produce audit-ready artifacts to evidence their compliance.Manage and maintain the corporate programs for regulatory tracking and management, policy and procedure management, and compliance validation auditing.Develop and oversee processes for detecting and responding to compliance violations or concerns; conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate effectiveness of the compliance program.
What you need
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Business Administration, Finance or related field; advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance, audit, risk management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Bonus if you have
In-depth knowledge of health insurance regulations, including Government Programs, ACA, HIPAA, and Kansas requirements.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
