Salary range: $155,567.00 to $194,459.00

The Senior Manager - Offshore Projects (Main Electrical Equipment Package Manager) will be responsible for the delivery of the Main Electrical Equipment Package for the New England Wind Project. The selected candidate will manage multi-million-dollar contracts (over $800M) to secure the delivery of the relevant assets. This position will oversee the design, manufacturing, factory testing, shipment, onshore installation, onshore commissioning, preparation for sea transport, offshore installation, and offshore commissioning at relevant project sites (shipyard, onshore substation, and offshore substation), and handover of the main electrical equipment.

Main Purpose of Job

The Senior Manager - Offshore Projects is a critical role within the Offshore Business focusing on the delivery of one Key Package. The individual will work as part of a multicultural and multinational team in managing contracts worth more than a billion dollars.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Project Leadership Team, responsible for defining delivery strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating, and managing offshore delivery contracts, planning and implementing delivery sites and logistics, leading the delivery phase including management of offshore contractors and associated interfaces, and ensuring quality, best practices, and excellent H&SE performance are applied.

The individual will work as part of Avangrid Renewables Offshore Business in the US but will oversee activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations overseas during development, contracting, and delivery of the key package. Furthermore, the individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different locations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead delivery of key work scopes within the Key Package, including coordination of key interfaces, management of stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with development consent, supported by the relevant functions (quality, FABEX, T&I, commissioning, etc.) through the delivery phase.

Ensure Key Package is delivered on time, to budget, and quality following the highest industry practice while observing maximum respect for Health, Safety, and Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.

Implement offshore standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements for large scale Key Package, constructed across several countries.

Ensure the delivery of Key Package is appropriate and consistent with Avangrid Renewables’ strategy and delivered according to specification, budget, and timetable without compromising safety.

Define, implement, and resource the appropriate organization structure for managing the delivery of the Key Package.

Manage the Key Package delivery team, comprising employees working within several countries throughout Europe (UK, Germany, France, Spain…) and the USA to ensure project execution with intelligent and cost-effective resourcing.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders including legal, commercial, financial, technical, and corporate functions.

Oversee handover of the Key Package from delivery to O&M to secure long-term investment value and minimize risks.

Provide input on appropriate bid levels/program strategies/commercial strategies/commercial agreements relative to the Key Package to maximize value. Provide key input in the preparation of investment dossiers for all funding requests for the Key Package to secure investment support at best value.

Provide key and strategic delivery advice, risk assessment, and recommendations to the business.

Act as a key member of the Project Management Committee(s), together with the Project Director and the rest of Senior Managers/Package Managers, where key project and strategic decisions (Technical and Commercial) are considered and approved to secure investment best value.

Work with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for Key Package delivery and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.

Carry out any other duties as directed by the Department Manager or EPC Director.

Provide key knowledge, lessons learned, and support Key Package throughout the whole life cycle of a project.

Ensure all lessons learned regarding offshore delivery are captured and shared across the different offshore packages. Establish the right mechanisms for this process and ensure teams and substantial package implement them to capture and enhance business value.

Key Criteria

General skills, knowledge, and experience

10+ years of proven project management experience within a delivery-oriented environment.

Experience and skills in managing teams in an international environment and in JV structures.

Ability to manage people effectively to deliver required outputs in a timely manner.

Competent in future planning. Proven experience in delivery and contracting management and programming.

Experience in offshore windfarm, marine works, or oil and gas delivery and marine operations.

Experience in tendering processes, contract negotiations, and commercial delivery of multi-million dollar contracts.

Experience in dealing with health and safety and environmental legislation associated with delivery, marine, and offshore key packages.

Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with more senior project managers.

Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence and develop key project and business decisions.

Good report writing and presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business.

Ability to work, manage teams, and manage decision-making processes under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.

Contribute (or ensure resources are available) to early development key packages, giving advice to development teams on buildability/delivery issues.

Organize and manage teams for the delivery of packages.

Ability to manage key packages and contracts that require interface and precise coordination with multiple disciplines (structures, turbines, electrical cables, offshore substations, ports, vessels).

Advise on the impact of technical/specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended.

Balance technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, considering all relevant risks.

Ability to ensure that all recommendations are documented, and sufficient due diligence exists to support decisions (whether internal or external diligence).

Position specific requirements

Master’s degree in relevant Engineering Field (desirable Electrical Engineering).

Executive Education desirable.

Relevant experience in EHV main electrical equipment.

Demonstrable experience in offshore substation works (MEQ integration).
