Sarasota based national general construction firm seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team. This role is pivotal in identifying, pursuing, and securing commercial construction opportunities, with a focus on strategic planning and relationship building. A “hunter” mindset is essential – this role requires a proactive, tenacious approach to finding and securing new business opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities :
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and manage business development and marketing activities, supporting the firm’s growth objectives by uncovering, evaluating, and capturing commercial sales opportunities. This includes managing a CRM system, collaborating with senior leadership, and coordinating responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). A high degree of organization, attention to deadlines, and a proactive, relationship-focused approach are critical. The ideal candidate will be highly confidential and exhibit discretion when interacting with clients, colleagues, and strategic partners.
Key Responsibilities :
Business Development & Lead Generation : Identify new business opportunities and market trends with existing and potential clients. Strategically generate qualified leads through networking, cold calling, on-site visits, and other engagement methods.
Client & Partner Relations : Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients, owners, and key strategic partners in the industry, ensuring satisfaction and fostering ongoing opportunities.
Sales:
Create sales forecasts and maintain a strong sales pipeline, tracking opportunities and adjusting strategies based on bid outcomes.
Market Analysis : Analyze new market opportunities and industry trends to recommend strategic sales approaches and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the retail and commercial construction sectors.
CRM & Bid Tracking : Oversee CRM processes to ensure effective client relationship management, timely bid submission, and comprehensive follow-up on active leads.
Post-Project Engagement : Continue engagement with clients post-project start-up to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for future collaboration.

Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience : Minimum of 3 years of business development or marketing experience within the commercial construction sector, preferably with a general contractor.
Network : Established industry relationships and an active network within the commercial construction sector, particularly with retailers, developers, and real estate firms.
Skills :
Proven negotiation, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
Strong prospecting and targeting abilities within the construction market.
Knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and processes.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to ensure deadlines and deliverables are consistently met.
Mindset : Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying market trends and customer needs. Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
