Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance and Administrative Services, the Director of Finance assists in the regular financial reporting and analyses of the College and Foundation activities. Oversees the daily processes of the Accounting activities and transactions (Accounts Payable, Grant Accounting, Fixed Assets, and General Accounting) and ensures the accuracy and integrity of the regular reporting of such to the administration, including the general ledger and financial operating and reporting functions and associated processes.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for recording the College’s financial activities on the general ledger, including financial reporting and associated all balance sheet account analysis.Proposes and monitors accounting procedures and systems of internal accounting control.Achieves effective utilization of Jenzabar/COGNOS as a reporting tool and provides information to management using the appropriate system generated reports.Managing College and Foundation bank accounts and banking relationships including daily cash balance monitoring.Prepares for the preparation of the College and Foundation the monthly and year-end financial statements and supports the coordination with the external auditors.Working with external auditors and providing needed information for the annual audit. Managing and coordinating the annual audit process.Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to management as requested.Prepares financial statements and operating data and generates special reports and analyses as directed by the CFO.Preparing interim financial reports including oversight of Endowment Fund activity, temporarily restricted fund and analysis of general ledger account activity – queries, data retrieval and maintenance of financial statements.Provides insight on the on-going financial activities to the CFO.Assures protection for the assets of the College through internal control procedures.Provides other College units with related information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities, including monthly departmental budget versus actual reports.Supports the CFO and others as required.Perform Grant analysis and reports.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervises Accounting Team consisting of Senior Account and Staff Accountant.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:BA in Accounting (and/or CPA); minimum five years related experience.Computer proficiency necessary and a high competency level with Excel, Word and PowerPoint is essential. Strong analytical skills and effective verbal and written communication skills must be demonstrated. Must be able to manage projects independently as well as contribute to team initiatives. Must be detail oriented, able to think critically, be creative and lead group presentations.Experience with Jenzabar /COGNOS and Datatel/Ellucian software in an educational environment.Salary: $ 75,000 - $100,000 per year commensurate with education/experience.To Apply:Please send cover letter and resume to HRresume@sussex.edu.
