Experimental Biological Physics: Open Rank Faculty Position

Stanford University - Applied Physics, Palo Alto, California, United States, 94306

The Department of Applied Physics at Stanford University seeks applicants for a faculty position at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in experimental biological physics very broadly construed. We seek candidates who bring physics-inspired approaches (e.g. developing instrumentation and other methods, or framing questions) to any area of biology including information processing by structures ranging from cells to brains; dynamics and mechanics ranging from molecules to cells, tissues, and development; evolution, ecology, and engineering of microbes or the immune system.

Applicants are expected to develop a world-leading independent research program which will particularly attract graduate students with physics backgrounds, and should possess good communication skills and a commitment to teaching and mentoring. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in physics, applied physics, biophysics, bioengineering, or a related field at the time of appointment and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2025.

Candidates should apply through
