POSITION SUMMARY
Mirum is seeking an Associate Director, Global Patient Advocacy to support the company’s pediatric and adult rare disease franchises. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Patient Advocacy, this person will build upon the strong trusted and credible relationships already established while setting the vision for creating Mirum’s best-in-class patient advocacy organization. This role will champion the patient and caregiver voice, liaise between patient communities and cross-functional partners at Mirum, and gather insights that help clarify the needs of patients and their families. The position will be based in Foster City, California.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and facilitate patient advocacy grants review process, logistics and reporting.
Lead and manage patient advocacy meeting and events activities including all review processes.
Attend and represent Mirum at advocacy conferences, medical congresses, and other events where there is an opportunity for PAG engagement.
Support activities related to program and material development including review processes.
Develop and oversee department budget planning and processes, lead budget related activities including PO processing, monthly updates, tracking and reporting.
Develop metrics and tracking reports, providing updates on engagement, progress and programs for PAGs.
Lead and direct all patient advocacy team activities related to internal Mirum meetings and events incorporating voice of PAGs and patients.
Engage and partner with PAGs to understand and respond to patients’ needs.
Offer unique insights from the patient community to shape and validate business processes, strategies and decisions; bring in cross-functional partners as needed.
Represent the needs of PAGs and community as business decisions are made.
Recognize environmental trends and anticipate impact on the patient and advocacy landscape to provide value to the company.
Stay apprised of regional compliance regulations and policies to ensure proper, appropriate engagement with PAGs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 8 years experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry and in similar function.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Previous experience working successfully with global patient advocacy groups, preferred.
Outstanding and persuasive interpersonal and communication skills; a relationship builder able to effectively present ideas, get buy-in and drive consensus across project teams.
Flexible, adaptable, diplomatic, and able to effectively deal with ambiguity.
Proactive, pays attention to detail with ability to anticipate and resolve problems effectively.
Ability to collect, synthesize, and present data across the organization.
Fiercely prioritizes activities, decisive, superior time manager, and forward thinking.
Familiarity with industry compliance and regulations.
Highest standard of ethics.
Must be willing to travel (30-35%) both domestic and internationally.
