The UT Southwestern Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management seeks an outstanding leader in clinical and academic anesthesiology for the position of Division Chief of Critical Care Medicine.
The 2023‐2024 U.S. News & World Report Hospital Rankings place UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Cardiology and Heart Surgery programs at 20th Nationally. UT Southwestern performs a full range of cutting edge cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries and interventional procedures. North Texas is growing rapidly, and UT Southwestern has successfully expanded to accommodate increased need for excellent tertiary and quaternary medical care.
Faculty and trainees within UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Division of Critical Care Medicine provide the highest quality clinical care to a wide variety of patients. The Division’s faculty provide clinical patient care and corresponding clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows at Clements University Hospital, Zale Lipshy Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital and at the Dallas Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center. The Division’s faculty members represent UT Southwestern as education organizers, speakers/panelists, committee members, editors, and elected leaders with national and international professional medical societies. Several faculty members within the Division are also conducting high-quality research. UT Southwestern’s Division of Critical Care Anesthesiology presently consists of 16 clinical faculty Anesthesiologists and one Emergency Medicine Intensivist. The Division has a highly quality ACGME-approved Critical Care Fellowship for Anesthesiologists as well as Emergency Medicine Physicians that is in good standing and which will train two fellows in the 2023-2024 academic year.
Minimum Requirements:Completed anesthesiology residency and subspecialty training in critical care medicine.Board certification in Anesthesiology and in the subspecialty of Critical Care Medicine.Active Texas medical license or eligibility for licensure in Texas.Specific experience in critical care medicine.Proven leadership skills.The successful candidate will have demonstrated clinical expertise and proven interpersonal skills, with a strong interest in advancing the academic, research, educational and clinical missions of the department. Faculty appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on academic experience.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:Ensuring ongoing excellent clinical care of patients both in personal clinical practice and in supervision of the clinical care provided by the overall Division.Providing strong mentorship and support for continued quality and growth of the academic activities of the Division’s faculty.Promoting high quality clinical education of medical students, anesthesiology residents, and clinical adult Critical Care Anesthesiology fellows participating in the Division’s clinical rotations.Fostering local, national, and international professional leadership by the Division’s faculty.Developing collaborations between the Division’s faculty and members of other medical specialties, to foster high quality multidisciplinary clinical and research approaches to clinical problems.Interested applicants should apply online at
