Brief Job Description:
The Director of Finance is responsible for managing the overall company's financial health and well-being, including all aspects of accounting, project control, financial planning, analysis and reporting, financial risk management, and full compliance with government & legal regulations and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Responsible for cash and treasury management while overseeing the full-cycle execution of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
Ensure accurate accounting and financial management of assets and inventory.
Ensure compliant labor accounting practices leading to timely and accurate payroll processing.
Ensure timely and accurate period-end (month and year) accounting close processes leading to reliable & verifiable financial results.
Prepare the annual financial plan to capture expected company performance and financial health related to all elements of the financial statements.
Prepare quarterly forecast updates to the company's financial planning related to all elements of the financial statements.
Provide meaningful, in-depth analysis and reporting of actual performance of all elements of the financial statements to enhance the business intelligence of the owner & CEO and key leadership team.
Perform business case analysis to reduce financial risks associated with making investment and spending decisions and advise the owner & CEO and key leadership accordingly.
Lead the Program Control function in all aspects of project cost and schedule control to include compliant application of Earned Value Management System or techniques as applicable.
Cross-functional collaboration in the preparation of customer quotes and proposals from initial RFP or sources sought through submission.
Key participant in the final review of proposal submissions especially with regard to business case and resulting financial impacts.
Ensure all Finance and Accounting activities are compliant with company policies, government & legal regulations and industry standards to include generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP), the US Government Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), the Department of Defense supplemental (DFARS), as well as any other overseeing authorities or audit committees.
Responsible for ensuring the company maintains and performs an effective system of Internal Controls.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state and local legal and license requirements.
Collaborate with tax professionals and authorities to manage and ensure the company's good standing.
Cross-functional collaboration in the use of business-wide ERP tools such as Costpoint, Unanet, Quickbooks.
Takes full ownership of the accounting and financial modules of the company's ERP tools such as Costpoint, Unanet, Quickbooks.
Hires and leads Finance and Accounting team, including giving directions and delivering performance evaluations.
Performs other tasks as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree is required; Master's degree is strongly preferred.
CPA or CMA is preferred.
Demonstratable ability to perform all of the responsibilities listed above.
Must have a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to ensure compliance with company policies, government & legal regulations and industry standards.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Experience using automated Accounting and ERP software such as Costpoint, Unanet, Quickbooks.
Experience developing complex US Government pricing models is preferred.
Must have strong organizational & planning skills, the ability to prioritize work & be self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks independently.
Must be detail-oriented with advanced analytical and critical thinking skills.
Possess strong attention to detail while also strategically cognizant of impact to the larger team, company, and industry/market perspective.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Demonstrated experience in leading teams of co-located and distantly located direct reports.
Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management.
Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are required.
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Generally, work is conducted in an inside environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates and while on travel.
