Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Docketing Coordinator in the Client Value & Practice Management department, reporting to the Docketing Manager.
The role can reside in the Dallas, Houston, New York or Washington, DC with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for supporting the Firm’s centralized case management system, CourtAlert, and assists with e-filing as needed. The Docketing Coordinator will also provide support training team members on docketing procedures and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of centralized litigation calendaring services. The Docketing Coordinator is responsible for organizing and meticulously preparing documents for efiling and hard copy filings, as well as respond to calls, emails and maintaining the docketing inboxes. The Docketing Coordinator is committed to providing superior service to the Firm’s attorneys, secretaries, and staff, while maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement, and upholding the Firm’s Core Values.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Process incoming case filings and calendar deadlines in centralized docketing software, CourtAlert, in a timely manner
Ability to docket and process requests across multiple jurisdictions by monitoring regional docketing inboxes
Provide filing and e-filing services to attorneys as needed
Conduct court rules research as requested by case team members
Keep current with court rule updates
Perform other tasks as requested by Senior Firm Wide Docketing Manager and Docketing Manager
Participate in regular department meetings
Provide training and guidance to new team members on docketing procedures
Assist with administrative tasks such as updating attorney admission and e-filing credentials via CourtAlert Admin application
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
5+ years’ law firm docketing experience required/preferred
Proficiency with calendaring software (CourtAlert, Compulaw, JuraLaw)
Knowledge of federal, state, and local court rules or ability to research when necessary
Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate detailed and complex information to others
Aptitude for and willingness to work with complex procedures
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adept at adjusting to shifting priorities in a professional setting
Ability to work independently and with a team
Proactive attitude towards taking on new tasks and responsibilities
Excellent judgment and discretion
Strong service orientation and an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys, peers, office and firm management, and outside business partners
Ability to work extended hours when necessary
Commitment to professional growth and development
The base salary range for this position in New York and Washington, DC is $65,000 to $85,000. Additional information about benefits and rewards can be found here.
