POSITION OVERVIEWNew York Hall of Science (NYSCI) is seeking an innovative Senior Vice President of Human Resources (SVPHR) to lead all aspects of HR, including talent management, total rewards, DEI, HRIS administration, compliance, labor relations, and learning and development. As a strategic leader and trusted advisor, the SVPHR will provide executive-level guidance and day-to-day direction across the entire HR function.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Talent Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive talent management strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
Leadership and Planning:
Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, contributing to the development and execution of the organization's strategic plans.
People and Culture:
Collaborate with leadership to design and implement the organization's DEI strategy.
Compliance and Policy Development:
Ensure that all HR policies and procedures are legally compliant and effectively communicated to employees.
Total Rewards:
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of competitive total rewards programs.
Learning & Development:
Develop and implement a comprehensive learning and development strategy that supports employee growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
10+ years of progressive human resource management experience.
Extensive experience with strategic talent management and HR operations.
Proven track record of success in leading HR functions in a non-profit or cultural institution.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing DEI strategies.
REQUIREMENTS
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Expertise in employment laws and HR best practices.
Experience with HRIS (ADP WorkforceNow) and proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stationary works station: The employee must be able to remain in a stationary sitting position for up to 8 hours a day.
Manual dexterity: The role requires the frequent use of hands for typing and handling office equipment.
Visual acuity: The employee must have the visual ability to perform extensive computer work.
Communication: The role requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree preferred.
Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or SPHR is strongly preferred.
Bilingual and multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
