We are excited to announce a new Montessori preschool opening in Bloomfield Hills, MI, and are seeking an experienced and passionate Director to lead the school from the ground up! This is a unique opportunity to shape and grow a Montessori program from its early stages. The school will accommodate 70+ children, including toddlers and preschoolers, and is expected to open in the next 5-6 months.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in establishing a welcoming and nurturing environment, managing the staff hiring process, guiding enrollment efforts, and setting up Montessori programs aligned with our vision of high-quality education. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the setup of the new Montessori school, including classroom arrangement, hiring processes, and curriculum planning.
Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of teaching staff to ensure a skilled, motivated, and cohesive team.
Drive enrollment efforts, creating and executing strategies to attract and retain students.
Manage day-to-day school operations, ensuring compliance with state regulations, licensing requirements, and Montessori standards.
Foster a warm and nurturing environment for children, staff, and families, promoting the Montessori philosophy.
Build strong relationships with parents and the local community to create a supportive and engaged school community.
Collaborate with the owner to implement a strategic vision for the school’s growth and success.
Qualifications:
Must meet one of the following Michigan educational requirements for child care directors:
Early Childhood Education degree
or
Bachelor's degree plus 18 semester hours in Early Childhood
or
Montessori credential plus 18 semester hours in Early Childhood
Other Qualifications:
Must meet all other Michigan licensing requirements for child care directors not listed above.
Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a child care environment.
Proven track record for caring for and nurturing children.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Passion for early childhood education and a deep understanding of Montessori principles.
Ability to manage school operations and build a positive culture from the start.
Previous experience as a Director or Administrator in a Montessori school setting strongly preferred.
Montessori Certification strongly preferred.
