Middle School Athletics Director

University School of Nashville seeks a Middle School Athletics Director. This person will manage the day-to-day operations and promotion of the middle school athletic program that serves 350 student athletes. The position calls for excellent teamwork with the athletic department, athletic trainers, middle school division head, and administrators. They will also be the primary point of contact and support for middle school coaches, student athletes, and their families.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a warm, friendly, and organized atmosphere for all middle school athletics.
Serve as primary point of contact for all middle school coaches, including hiring head and assistant coaches, annual goal setting, and evaluations for each program.
Provide timely communication to coaches, USN administrators, and athletes and their families regarding sport opportunities for upcoming seasons, athletic events, and post-season activities, and generate weekly middle school athletics newsletter articles in conjunction with the Director of Communications.
Lead middle school athletic coach meetings in coordination with the middle school division head, attend weekly middle school administrative team meetings, and attend all Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference (HVAC) meetings for middle school athletics league.
Coordinate coverage plan for all middle school athletics that ensures an administrative presence at all home games and tournaments and manage proper bus travel supervision and appropriate student athlete bus behavior.
Oversee Middle School Recognition Evenings.
Maintain, review, and approve timesheets, with the approval of the Director of Athletics, for middle school off-campus coaches.
Supervise middle school athletics supply orders, inventory needed supplies, and code all purchases in a timely fashion, and prepare and approve check requests throughout the year for officials fees and department expenses.
Prepare reports for the HVAC as needed in conjunction with Athletics Administrative Assistant.
Oversee athletic records of all middle school student-athletes through the Magnus Health database in conjunction with Athletics Administrative Assistant.
Perform other duties as determined by the Director of Athletics.
Education and Experience:
Undergraduate college degree required, graduate degree optimal.
Prior administrative and coaching/teaching experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrate initiative, excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
Meet the demands of an open and active working environment with a positive outlook and professional demeanor.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and other members of the USN community.
Be dependable and discreet with regard to needs for confidentiality.
Be eager to learn, able to adapt to change, and committed to one's own professional growth.

Possess a passion for encouraging and developing middle school aged student athletes, working with their parents, and as a collaborative member of the athletic department.
The School:
University School of Nashville is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational day school with enrollment of over 1,000 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. In 1915, the George Peabody College for Teachers opened Peabody Demonstration School, USN's predecessor, which earned acclaim for its curriculum and faculty. In 1974, Peabody College announced plans to close PDS, and a group of parents, alumni, students, and teachers reconstituted and re-chartered the school as University School of Nashville.
