The specific dates of the internship are agreed upon by the intern and the hiring manager. This is a paid internship opportunity. Undergraduate students will receive $22.00/hr. Postgraduate students will receive $27.00/hr.Interns are assigned to a specific area of CSBS. The work is generally project-based with the intern expected to deliver a final product at the end of the internship. All interns will receive exposure to all areas of CSBS.As a cohort, CSBS interns will have an opportunity to collaborate on a team project. This cohort group will brainstorm and provide a fresh perspective into how CSBS presents VIBE in our job descriptions and how we promote our values on our career page and external job postings. Additionally, we will ask the interns to create a VIBE decision-making checklist. This tool will help ensure we are living into our VIBE by aligning our decisions to our commitment to culture.Communications InternshipThe Communications Intern is responsible for supporting the CSBS communications department with a variety of functions that ensure the department’s operations and ability to effectively communicate CSBS messaging and brand attributes. The Communications Intern will assist with a range of duties including: drafting messaging materials, such as talking points and press releases, compiling daily news clips, researching media contacts, posting press materials to the CSBS website, editing audio and video content, and assisting with social media strategy, content creation, and posting. Finally, the Communications Intern will experience regulatory, legislative, mortgage, and professional development areas of CSBS by participating in staff briefings, meetings, and events.Essential FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Help draft well-written, comprehensive press releases, talking points or other communications material that accurately reflect the policy positions and brand of CSBS.Assist with editing audio and visual content under the guidance of the senior manager, digital communications.Assist with social media strategy, content creation and distribution in support of CSBS brand attributes and communications objectives.Synthesize and communicate information on media trends, influencer activity, social and media landscape analysis.Perform duties related to distributing CSBS positioning, such as posting press releases on the CSBS website and cascading information to the CSBS staff and membership.Must be able to communicate effectively.Minimum QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.Education and Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of college-level courses. The applicant should be at least a junior in good standing.Either a declared major or minor in communications or public relations.A general interest in banking or financial services public affairs issues.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Written communication: able to write clearly and effectively present ideas and to document activities; to communicate information in a succinct and organized manner; produce written information that is appropriate for the intended audience; to read and interpret written information; ability to write speeches, memos, reports and articles.Results orientation: ability to work at a fast pace and meet critical deadlines.Planning and organizing: ability to manage and prioritize multiple, complex projects.Interest in current financial and banking issues.Attention to detail: appreciation for how to create a high-quality communications product.Familiarity of Associated Press (AP) Style.RequirementsDue to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”).
