The specific dates of the internship are agreed upon by the intern and the hiring manager. This is a paid internship opportunity. Undergraduate students will receive $22.00/hr. Postgraduate students will receive $27.00/hr.Interns are assigned to a specific area of CSBS. The work is generally project-based with the intern expected to deliver a final product at the end of the internship. All interns will receive exposure to all areas of CSBS.As a cohort, CSBS interns will have an opportunity to collaborate on a team project. This cohort group will brainstorm and provide a fresh perspective into how CSBS presents VIBE in our job descriptions and how we promote our values on our career page and external job postings. Additionally, we will ask the interns to create a VIBE decision-making checklist. This tool will help ensure we are living into our VIBE by aligning our decisions to our commitment to culture.Data Analytics Internship:The Data Analytics Team is tasked with providing state agencies and CSBS staff with useful data about the financial services companies regulated by state agencies and about the state regulatory agencies themselves. The team distributes analysis in the form of quarterly publications, as well as interactive dashboards that allow users to explore large volumes of data. The summer intern will gain experience creating web-based data gathering tools and planning for/implementing a modernized data analytics environment.The ideal candidate will help CSBS:Simplify the data flow process between CSBS and state regulator agencies.Help with creating and editing profile surveys with multiple question types.Plan for and implement a modernized data analytics environment.Build dashboards and reports.Understand the business of financial supervision.Learn about automation using Python and modeling using RStudio.Candidates should possess an interest in financial regulatory analysis and have some degree of technical inclination. Experience with HTML, at least one modern programming language, and database technology is desired.RequirementsDue to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”).
