Position Summary:An Android Engineer III plays an active role in developing and maintaining Android applications. They collaborate with senior engineers to deliver high-quality code, assist in architectural decisions, and address performance and usability issues. They work across teams to build user-friendly and scalable Android applications.

About Team:Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

Develop and maintain Android application features in coordination with senior engineers.

Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to implement functionality.

Participate in code reviews and improve code quality by following Android best practices.

Diagnose and resolve bugs and performance issues in Android applications.

Stay up-to-date with the latest Android trends and tools, incorporating them into development work.

Work with both US and IDC teams to deliver a seamless Android experience.

What you'll bring:

Proficiency in Kotlin and Java with experience in using Android SDK and development tools.

Familiarity with Android architecture components and design patterns like MVP or MVVM.

Basic knowledge of testing frameworks such as JUnit or Espresso, and version control with Git.

Experience with building and releasing apps on Google Play.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team and across departments.

Minimum Qualifications:Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications:Customer Service experience, knowledge in creating inclusive digital experiences, implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of accessibility best practices.
