Summary:
The Director of Technical Services is responsible for managing and coordinating all engineering, product innovation, quality, and maintenance activities across Diamond Kote Siding System. Responsibilities include facilities, manufacturing equipment and utilities to ensure and maintain optimum operation of the various plants. Develop yearly CAPEX and maintenance budgets as well as direct Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Continuous Improvement Departments. Develop and implement investment plan for each facility and ensure these align with the established policies and objectives of the Company.
Duties to include (not limited to):
Collaborate with plant leadership and departments related to planning, organizing and prioritizing plant projects and priorities, including scheduling and planning projects as well as planned maintenance in coordination with Maintenance Manager and Production Scheduling to ensure timeliness of repairs.
Provide leadership to project engineering and maintenance staff, including developing training programs to optimize and build technical skills.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to define preventive maintenance strategies to avoid breakdowns and impacts to production, while also ensuring unplanned equipment breakdowns are addressed appropriately.
Ensure appropriate corrective or preventative action plans are in place based on safety, quality and environmental issues
Product Innovation - Responsible for assessing emerging trends, conducting product research, exploring technologies, platforms, materials, and opportunities that allow WSC to deliver innovative products to simplify customer experiences.
Research, document, and prioritize detailed product requirements to ensure that products meet business needs, performance objectives, and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Drive the product development process from idea to implementation.
Ensure technical documentation is updated and maintained to ensure necessary spare parts and consumable inventory relevant to maintenance and project engineering is available.
Process Innovation – Responsible for continuous improvements of existing production lines and development of future automated lines focused on Safety, Quality, and Productivity.
Ensure development, implementation, and maintenance for best practices and SOPs.
Develop and maintain vendor relations.
Develop, maintain, report, and improve on capacity, quality, and productivity standards.
Set and maintain operational budgets to include staffing requirements.
Review and approve supply and material expenditures.
Collaborate with the Senior Director of Diamond Kote on the development of capital expenditure requirements and projections to ensure related projects are implemented on time and on budget.
Oversee all Facilities/Structures/Building-related activities.
Develop and mentor direct reports to ensure succession needs.
Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluating, and discharging compliance.
Lead, audit, and support safety programs.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
The Director of Technical Services will possess and/or demonstrate the ability to:
Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, across the Company
Possess proven and excellent managerial skills
Implement proven problem-solving methods and statistical tools
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet expected goals on time
Extensive technical knowledge of engineering, maintenance and product development
Independent decision making and critical thinking skills
Strong financial acumen
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Education / Experience:
Minimum BS degree in Industrial Engineering, or Industrial Technology, or closely-related discipline
Minimum 10 years relevant experience in manufacturing (building materials a strong plus)
Minimum of 5 – 7 years of managerial experience
Experience implementing Lean and Six Sigma strongly preferred
Statistical analysis development
Working Demands / Physical Requirements:
Travel as needed
Capability to sit at a deck for extended periods of time
