This position will manage a team of 40 engineers of all experience levels from entry level to very senior including multiple sub-managers. Because of the diversity of skills in the group, it is imperative that the Manager has thorough technical knowledge to make good staffing decisions and provide meaningful reviews and guidance. This engineering group performs implementation of transmitter/receiver algorithms using FPGA/ASIC devices, DSP devices, and other digital devices/processors. This group also provides digital design support for new business development, systems engineering, and product line engineering.
Management responsibilities include:
Coordination and management of all efforts assigned to the group
Ensuring best schedule and cost performance
Technical review of all work done within the group
Ensuring technical synergy, competence, efficiency and completeness
Staffing assignments and coordination
Employee career development and performance reviews
Work forecasting and hiring coordination
Bid and proposal support, staffing and review
Point of Contact for other engineering disciplines, Programs, Operations
Digital Design related technical assignments
Group engineering processes and guidelines development and approval
Also ensures process and procedures are followed correctly
Basic Qualifications:
This position is on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of prior or current management / team lead experience as well as 8+ years of Circuit Card, Wireless Comms or DSP related digital design experience
Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration
Experience in DoD accepted engineering development practices, processes and documentation
Experience with bidding, planning, and executing related engineering development efforts
Experience with EVMS, cost proposal management systems and MS Project
Experience with VHDL, C, C++ and Matlab
Experience leading engineering project teams
Demonstrated responsibility/accountability for budgets exceeding $1M
Strong oral and written communication skills
