This position will manage a team of 40 engineers of all experience levels from entry level to very senior including multiple sub-managers. Because of the diversity of skills in the group, it is imperative that the Manager has thorough technical knowledge to make good staffing decisions and provide meaningful reviews and guidance. This engineering group performs implementation of transmitter/receiver algorithms using FPGA/ASIC devices, DSP devices, and other digital devices/processors. This group also provides digital design support for new business development, systems engineering, and product line engineering.
Management responsibilities include:Coordination and management of all efforts assigned to the group
Ensuring best schedule and cost performance
Technical review of all work done within the group
Ensuring technical synergy, competence, efficiency and completeness
Staffing assignments and coordinationEmployee career development and performance reviewsWork forecasting and hiring coordinationBid and proposal support, staffing and reviewPoint of Contact for other engineering disciplines, Programs, OperationsDigital Design related technical assignmentsGroup engineering processes and guidelines development and approval
Also ensures process and procedures are followed correctly
Basic Qualifications:
This position is on-site in Salt Lake City, Utah.Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related engineering experiencePreferred Qualifications:
3+ years of prior or current management / team lead experience as well as 8+ years of Circuit Card, Wireless Comms or DSP related digital design experienceAdvanced degree in Engineering and/or Business AdministrationExperience in DoD accepted engineering development practices, processes and documentationExperience with bidding, planning, and executing related engineering development effortsExperience with EVMS, cost proposal management systems and MS ProjectExperience with VHDL, C, C++ and MatlabExperience leading engineering project teamsDemonstrated responsibility/accountability for budgets exceeding $1MStrong oral and written communication skills
