ABS is Hiring for an onsite position local to Thousand Oaks, California to support our client for an exciting role as a Scientific Systems (Lab) IT Administrator position within the Information Technology group. The Lab Systems Administrator is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of laboratory systems and ensuring their compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, EU Annex 11, GLP, GMP, ISO). This role will work closely with laboratory personnel and IT teams to support efficient operations, data integrity, and regulatory compliance in a life science drug manufacturing facility.

The Administrator will provide technical support and manage IT systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining data integrity within a life science laboratory environment. This role requires a strong understanding of 21 CFR Part 11, current life science industry Data Integrity standards, Windows-based operating systems/networks, laboratory equipment, software, IT infrastructure, and a strong commitment to ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

Data Management and Compliance:

Implement and maintain robust data management practices for lab applications, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance evaluations to identify and mitigate data integrity gaps and system failures.

Develop and maintain comprehensive data retention and backup policies to protect critical data.

Support and perform system 21 CFR Part 11 and Risk assessments, periodic reviews, and maintain support-related logbooks and documentation.

Laboratory Equipment Support:

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for laboratory instruments, PCs, servers, and associated applications.

Coordinate repairs and maintenance with vendors to minimize downtime.

Lead system implementations and architecture for laboratory equipment, ensuring seamless integration with existing IT infrastructure.

IT Infrastructure Support:

Demonstrate expertise in Windows operating systems, networks, folder security, troubleshooting, and Windows logs.

Possess a working knowledge of SQL databases and their application in laboratory environments.

System Administration:

Conduct regular system maintenance activities, implement necessary changes, and ensure the overall health and availability of systems.

Maintain proper user access controls and permissions.

Respond promptly to technical inquiries and resolve issues efficiently to minimize disruptions.

Coordinate with vendors regarding application and firmware updates/fixes, providing technical expertise and facilitating communication with stakeholders.

Notify the System Owner/Business Process Owner of scheduled operating system software upgrades, including patches and hot-fixes.

Manage and maintain comprehensive application support documentation.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure that all laboratory systems and processes adhere to 21 CFR Parts 210, 211, EU Annex 11, and other relevant regulations.

Collaborate with regulatory affairs and quality assurance teams to address compliance-related issues.

Qualifications:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience working in a life science laboratory environment, preferably with knowledge of laboratory equipment and software.

Understanding of data integrity standards and 21 CFR Part 11.

Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Windows operating systems and networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Microsoft365 Certifications.

Understanding of Windows folder security and general users/groups management and configuration.

Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Windows Batch Scripts, Python, R).

Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and scientific software.

Additional Notes:

The Lab Systems Administrator will be expected to weekend support in rotation with other teammates and off hours as needed to support site production needs.
