Job Overview
The Director of Sales reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for driving revenue through effective sales strategies, managing relationships with clients, and promoting our hotel’s unique offerings to maximize occupancy, rate, market share and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend regular meetings, including but not limited to, daily departmental stand up meeting, weekly business review meeting, weekly BEO meeting, monthly sales meeting, and pre-con meetings as needed or required
Create and implement a comprehensive sales plan to achieve revenue goals, targeting both leisure and business travelers.
Conduct market research to identify trends, competition, and new business opportunities. Utilize data to adjust sales strategies accordingly.
Build and maintain strong relationships with travel agents, corporate clients, and local businesses. Regularly meet with key clients to understand their needs and enhance loyalty.
Collaborate with the General Manager & Revenue Manager to set pricing strategies and promotional offers. Monitor occupancy and revenue performance, adjusting strategies as needed.
Develop marketing initiatives to promote the hotel through digital platforms, social media, and local partnerships.
Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitive analysis. Present findings to the management team and recommend actionable strategies.
Ensures client overnight rooming lists are entered in Opera correctly, all billing requirements are correct for the master bill and for individual guests. Ensure all Advance deposits are collected, and VIP guests are identified and provided welcome amenities
Evaluate client needs and industry competitive set to provide input for operational changes necessary to ensure client satisfaction
Monitor and communicate industry trends within the marketplace.
Meets IHG standard of 2-hour response time to all incoming leads and inquiries including Meeting Broker leads.
RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
Ensures all client group details are clearly detailed on Group Resumes and BEOs and clearly communicates with housekeeping, front office, accounting and engineering, to ensure client details are executed and client expectations are exceeded.
Maintains a high level of professional appearance and maintains positive relationships with all hotel operating departments to foster a supportive environment, teamwork and ongoing cooperative interdepartmental relationships.
Directs client on use of signage and banners to ensure a professional image of hotel public space is maintained at all times.
Conducts facility tours and entertains clients to help close on potential business opportunities, As requested, joins hotel managers for client site inspections and tours to show supportive cooperative relationships between sales and service departments focused on client satisfaction and attention to detail.
Knows and understands hotel operational practices and policies to better assist the client and not misrepresent the hotel’s capabilities., including accounting practices for direct billing, deposits, and credit card usage.
This position is responsible for proactive selling and will be required to conduct weekly proactive solicitation activity to include, tele-prospecting, outside sales calls, and participation, with an agreed-upon community organization to keep the Holiday Inn Express & Suites name foremost in the community and network with influential individuals that can provide the hotel with business opportunities. This position will have monthly revenue generation and future revenue sales goals assigned to it and failure to achieve revenues goals repeatedly will result in corrective action plans and may result in personnel action up to and including termination.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Salesforce (Delphi), Meeting Broker and Opera experience required
Solid sales & account management skills are essential
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills
Advanced communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, convince, sell and influence professional clientele.
Results / goal-oriented individual with emphasis on the achievement of individual and team goal accountability.
Ability to keep and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
