POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time, exempt status position responsible for directing and administering the University's programs of institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and external reporting. The Director fulfills an essential role for the University and serves as a vital resource for faculty, staff, and senior University leadership. The Director reports directly to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans and coordinates the overall institutional research and external reporting functions of the University
Maintains longitudinal data for reporting
Provides information and analyses to support University initiatives in enrollment, retention, finance, compliance (e.g., SACSCOC, NCAA, other accreditation agencies), and other areas
Provides leadership, planning, and training in improving institutional effectiveness
Works with academic and administrative departments to identify information and reporting needs supporting operations and effectiveness programs
Ensures the timely completion of required federal and state reporting
Coordinates internal surveys, providing guidance on survey design and the analysis of results
Serves as the contact point for federal, state, and selected external requests for research and survey information
Develops and maintains relationships with key internal and external constituents
Remains aware of current trends and best practices in institutional research and changes in SACSCOC policies and procedures and evaluates how these will impact the University
Evaluates the impact of data system and reporting changes on compliance
Proposes and monitors the budget for the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness
Serves on University committees as requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree with coursework in research methods, evaluation, assessment or related field required; five years experience in institutional research required, preferably at a private university, with at least two years in a supervisory role. Programming experience (SAS preferred) required. Experience with SACSCOC reaffirmation of accreditation processes beneficial. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
