DEFINITION:
The Director facilitates institutional research and assessment activities to support the College’s institutional effectiveness processes, reporting requirements, and accreditation standards; provides institutional data and reports as required by the NC Community College System, and addresses the data and planning needs of the College.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the Vice President, Academic Affairs/Accreditation Liaison
Exercises direct supervision of Institutional Researcher & Accreditation Assistant
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
Assist with facilitating the College’s institutional effectiveness processes, including curriculum program reviews, strategic planning, planning retreats, and planning unit assessment cycles
Assist with the regular assessment of the College’s program learning outcomes and general education competencies
Conduct institutional research for the purposes of satisfying internal and external data reporting requirements
Serve as the College’s IPEDS keyholder
Serve as the College’s data coordinator for the NCCC System Office
Ensure the accuracy and validity of all externally and internally reported College data
Manage internal data and research requests
Train faculty and staff on compliance needs of the college including but not limited to SACSCOC accreditation requirements
Other Important Functions:
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of the College’s IE and planning processes
Address the data needs of other units within the College
Provide support to the SACSCOC Liaison in addressing the Commission’s reporting and documentation requirements
Maintain up-to-date and accurate IEP pages on the College’s website
Lead the College’s data coordinating team to support the accuracy, validity, and replicability of internal datasets and research projects
Prepare effective presentations and reports for internal and external audiences
Compose, distribute, collect, and analyze surveys on behalf of the College
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability To:

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to extract and analyze data will be considered
Familiarity with SACSCOC accreditation requirements or similar accrediting agency requirements
Experience with reporting procedures and requirements for higher education
Advanced skills and experience in using applications such as Ellucian Informer, MS Excel, SAS, SPOL, Compliance Assist; SPSS, etc. for IE and reporting purposes
Experience in designing and deploying survey instruments for the collection of quantitative and qualitative data.
