Position Description

DEFINITION:

Under the direction of the Grants Specialist performs a wide range of key functions necessary to the grant development process. Responsibilities include conducting research, preparing budgets; writing and editing components of grant proposals and full grant proposals requiring advanced job skills. Identify and contact appropriate data sources both within and outside the College to obtain supporting data for grant proposals, analyze data, and prepare it in charts or graphic form for use by Grant Development. Job requires well-developed written and verbal communications skills to exchange technical and complex information. Work results impact the accuracy, reliability and acceptability of data used in the College's grant seeking efforts. Work involves managing multiple priorities and planning and organizing to meet established deadlines.

Receives general supervision from the Grants Specialist.

No supervision is exercised by this position.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions: Researches, analyzes, compiles, and presents complex data from a variety of sources in order to communicate and reinforce difficult concepts and to communicate large amounts of quantifiable data for grant proposals. Data is presented in a variety of formats such as graphs, maps, charts, illustrations, tables, diagrams, flow charts, plain text and other formats as needed. Prepares complex grant budgets in MS EXCEL and in other formats. Develops, implements, and maintains the budget spreadsheet template and budget narrative template for use by Grant Development. Reviews CFCC budget and personnel policies; federal, state and local laws and regulations; and funding agency policies and procedures to determine how they relate to budgeting for specific grants. Maintains the necessary records, files, databases, and resource material pertinent to the grants office activities to ensure effective Grant Development operation and compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Writes sections of grant proposals such as budget narratives, personnel and college description sections. Writes and edits grant proposals. Drafts letters of commitment for signature from internal and external partners. Creates and/or gathers supporting material for grant proposals such as job descriptions, resumes, maps, organizational charts, bibliographies, tables of contents and forms. Researches funding sources and disseminates information on funding opportunities to Grants Specialist Develops, implements and monitors the Grant Development external and internal websites.

Other Important Functions:

Performs a variety of administrative support activities to ensure that proposal requirements are met in a timely manner, and prepares and processes internal department requests. Coordinates with other staff assisting with grant related projects. Performs other related duties as assigned. Provides assistance to students.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

Must have knowledge of techniques used for online database research.

Must have skills in planning, organizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Must have the ability to set timelines, meet deadlines and ensure project goals are achieved.

Must have knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management along with the ability to manage grant budgets. Ability To:

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must have demonstrated ability to apply standard grammar rules when writing and editing. Must have demonstrated experience in using MS EXCEL, MS WORD, MS PowerPoint, and database software, and must have experience integrating software applications to produce complex documents. Must have the ability to learn and apply knowledge of all pertinent federal, state and local regulations. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Minimum Education/Training:

Completion of at least two years of higher education.

Minimum Experience

:

One year of professional experience in data analysis and reporting, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills

:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Skills applying standard grammar rules when writing and editing.
