Daniels College of BusinessPosition SummaryThe Assistant Professor of Business Information & Analytics will have responsibility for research, teaching, and service. We are open to applicants with a variety of perspectives, research and teaching interests and methodological approaches. We have a preference for candidates who will build upon our strengths by exploring innovative and emerging areas.The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses during the academic year, which may include fall, winter, and/or spring quarters. Teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate level courses using traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods. Teaching responsibilities may involve day, night, and weekend classes. The Assistant Professor is expected to demonstrate the ability to conduct and publish high-quality research, as well as participate in the academic life of the Department of Business Information & Analytics and the Daniels College of Business.Essential FunctionsTeaching:
The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach six courses throughout the academic year, which may include fall, winter, and spring quarters. DU follows the quarter system, with three, 10-week long academic terms in Fall (early September-late November), Winter (January-mid March), and Spring (Late March-first week of June). The Assistant Professor will be granted summer research support and two course releases for research activity for the first two years. Course releases and summer support for research activity beyond the first two years are subject to a competitive process open to all faculty members. There may also be opportunities to teach during the nine-week summer quarter.Research:
The Assistant Professor will be expected to conduct and publish high-quality research in leading journals in the field. Maintenance of AACSB Scholarly Academic qualifications is required.Service:
The Assistant Professor will be expected to participate in the academic life of the Department of Business Information & Analytics and the Daniels College of Business. Such participation includes attendance at faculty meetings, and engagement in assurance of learning, curriculum development, and scholarly activities such as research symposia. Significant involvement with students is expected of all faculty members.Required QualificationsEarned doctorate in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Statistics, Operations Research or closely related field from an accredited school. ABD will be considered. The doctoral degree must be completed no later than March 31 of the first year of employment at Daniels. Candidates will hold the title of Instructor until completion of the doctoral degree.Demonstrated potential for strong performance in teaching, research, and service as defined under Essential Functions.Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse communities or evidence of a commitment to incorporate inclusive teaching methods and/or pedagogies to effectively engage broadly diverse student populations.Strong English communication skills (written and oral).Preferred QualificationsEarned doctorate from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited school.Publications in respected and highly ranked journals in the field.Research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, business statistics, database design and SQL, predictive analytics, data mining and visualization, programming, project management, simulation, advanced data management platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.), and/or optimization.Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python or R.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives.Demonstrated experience engaging diverse populations and students with different learning styles.Physical ActivitiesAbility to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.Work ScheduleWhile the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas.Application DeadlineFor consideration, please submit your application materials by
