DESCRIPTION:
The City of Creedmoor is approximately 20 miles north of Raleigh and northeast of Durham with approximately 5000 residents. This position will be managing the Community Center, Lake Rogers Park, Harris Park, Gauntlet Fitness & Walking Trail.
The Recreation Director will plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programming as well as manage regular and temporary staff. This role will be responsible for expanding recreational activities for all segments, groups, ages, and interest levels of the community. He or she will develop long-range plans and seek funding sources for recreation programs, parks, and facilities to accommodate city growth, goals, and parks and recreation needs. This individual will seek and apply input from community groups, neighborhood groups, and individuals regarding parks and recreation needs; utilizes such input for overall planning, programming, and program evaluation. Other duties will include, but not be limited to: promoting the parks program through cooperative planning and effective working relationships with the county and other community agencies and groups, public and private; manage special programs and projects from design through implementation; coordinate building and facilities compliance with ADA requirements and liability prevention measures; responsible for the safety of all participants and oversight of any necessary signed waivers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in Recreation Management or Administration, Physical Education, or related field and 5 years’ experience including significant supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The selected candidate must have their CPR/AED and First Aid Certification. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license. Demonstrated project management and local government experience preferred. Ability to successfully pass background check and other requirements related to working with youth. This does require a work schedule of days, evenings, and weekends. We are encouraging but not requiring CPRP/CPRE (Certified Park and Recreation Professional/Certified Park and Recreation Executive).
SALARY:
The starting salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $63,000 to $77,000 based on qualifications and experience. The City offers a benefits package including 100% paid medical/dental/vision/life insurance for employee-only, membership in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System, 5% 401(k) contribution with no match required, identity theft protection coverage; optional flexible spending account, life, disability, and other insurances; tuition reimbursement; 12 paid holidays; and 12 paid vacation/sick leave days annually.
