Administer and supervise student work on SAIC’s student media outlets: ExTV and Freeradio SAIC. Oversee function and day-to-day operation of student media facilities. Oversee staffing and quality of instruction for equipment and software training workshops.Responsibilities:

Hire, train, advise, and supervise student media programming staff in the operation of ExTV and Freeradio SAIC. Administer student employee paperwork and access.Manage Freeradio and ExTV operational budgets. Research new resources, and make purchase recommendations to the Associate Director.Maintain valid licensing and association memberships for student media outlets (Sound Exchange, ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC). Monitor station compliance with Digital Millennium Copyright Act.Maintain inventory of student media production equipment, media, and facilities. Oversee and schedule maintenance and necessary upgrades to equipment and facilities. Oversee the standard of production quality of student media work presented on student media outlets.Oversee coordination of ExTV and Freeradio SAIC sponsored events such as ExFest; and coordination of ExTV and Freeradio SAIC participation in SAIC events.Oversee training process for new DJs on Freeradio SAIC program schedule.Enforce student media member guidelines and policy. Consult with members of the SAIC community who wish to produce programming for Freeradio SAIC and ExTV.Keep abreast of festivals, programs, and distribution opportunities for media artwork. Provide a repository of opportunity information for interested students.Hire, train, supervise, and schedule student employees to offer training workshops, certifications, and tutoring/consulting for SAIC circulating technological resources.Develop training materials and certification quizzes for Media Center’s Canvas Training site for instruction on the use of Media Center circulating equipment. Ensure quality of workshop instruction. Manage / grade 9 canvas courses; appr. 5 submitted per day; enter certifications into WebCo.Maintain inventory of equipment, media, and facilities dedicated to instructional and authorization workshops. Oversee and schedule maintenance and necessary upgrades to equipment and facilities.Update / maintain Media Resources microsite.QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in higher education administration, integrated communication strategy highly desirable.Experience in college media production and/or administration.Experience with digital video and sound production (cameras, lights, microphones, audio recorders, etc).Advanced digital media editing experience and knowledge, and proficiency in digital sound production and broadcast are highly desirable.Proficiency with presentation applications and technology.Ability to work with a diverse range of faculty, students and staff and to teach technology from the basic through advanced levels.Proven management-supervisory experience required.Excellent writing and overall communication skills required.Demonstrable understanding of web applications and HTML preferred.Bachelor's Degree Preferred.The Art Institute of Chicago is an Equal Opportunity Employer that recruits, hires and promotes qualified individuals without regard to race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, ancestry, veteran status or citizenship.
