“We deliver a fun and welcoming fitness environment to help you lead your best life.”Located in Stafford Virginia, the Jeff Rouse Swim & Sports Center (JRSSC) is a state-of-the-art 76,000 square foot facility that houses a 50-meter competition pool with movable bulkhead and seating for over 800 spectators, a 25-yard recreation pool, a warm-water wellness pool, a group exercise studio, fitness floor, a full-size basketball court, and a full-service cafe to serve guests.The Jeff Rouse Swim & Sports Center offers cycling, a variety of group exercise classes, swimming lessons, and lifeguarding. The center offers league play for adults in volleyball, basketball, Lil’ Kickers soccer for children 18 months- 9 years, summer camps, clinics, classes, a J-Club kids’ area for all those active kids ages 10 weeks -12 years old.The Jeff Rouse Swim & Sports Center is accepting applications for Assistant Aquatics Director - Programs. The Assistant Aquatics Director - Programs is responsible for directly managing aquatics program staff (interview, hire, train, evaluate), managing aquatics programs with the continual goal of better usage of the pool, and meeting the needs of the community. The Assistant Aquatics Director will oversee American Red Cross classes, youth swim lessons and lifeguarding as needed. This position will also help to maintain all pool operations and oversee all equipment and maintenance to ensure proper pool functioning. The Assistant Aquatics Director maintains a safe swim environment by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool as well as preventing and responding to all emergencies. The Assistant Aquatics Director reports directly to the Aquatics Director.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSelects, trains, evaluates, and retains staff to provide appropriate services to the community as lifeguards, swim instructors, and coaches.Enforces all personnel policies and guidelines in accordance with JRSSC policies.Conducts annual reviews for all aquatic staff and suggests salary increments to the appropriate supervisor.Acts as a representative for all aquatic staff and issues at JRSSC management team meetings.Teaches swim lessons and lifeguards on an as needed basis.Through efficient allocation of facility and human resources, contributes to the membership development and retention of JRSSC members, placing the needs of the members as a key priority at all times.Oversee In-Service Trainings by scheduling and conducting each accordingly.Oversee swim meet operations in conjunction with aquatics staff to ensure outstanding service for members, guests and attendees.Assist with set-up and breakdown of equipment for swim meets.Perform daily pool operator tasks in pump rooms.Oversee Swim Instruction and Lifeguards and make sure they are following proper procedures; correct action(s) when necessary.Notify Aquatics Director of any action that demands attention.Responsible for the scheduling of aquatics staff.Scan surveillance areas to ensure the safety of all patrons.Act in emergency situations and provide appropriate care.Help maintain a clean pool environment.Conduct chemical checks on scheduled basis.Fill out any necessary reports for accidents or incidents.Must have flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Knowledge of pool filtration system, rescue equipment, computer and office equipment.Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the General Manager.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES• Directly supervises 15 to 30 Lifeguards.• Directly supervises 1 to 10 Swim Instructors.• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with JRSSC’s policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include:Training employees.Planning, assigning, and directing work.Appraising performance.Rewarding employees.Counseling employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
