About the role

We are looking to add an

EHS Director

to our growing

Safety Department . As an

EHS Director , you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs for operations. The director is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, as well as creating a safe working environment for all employees. This role involves close collaboration with site management, operations teams, and external regulatory bodies.

This on-site position will directly support our safety operations at our Austin, Rockdale, or Corsicana, TX office.

Essential Functions

Develop, implement, and manage the company’s EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, local environmental and safety regulations).

Monitor changes in EHS legislation and advise management on necessary updates and actions.

Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and site inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks.

Develop and deliver safety training programs for all levels of staff.

Promote a safety-focused culture by engaging with employees, contractors, and leadership on best practices and safety initiatives.

Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including air and water quality, emissions, waste management, and energy usage.

Implement strategies for reducing the company’s environmental footprint, including initiatives for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability.

Lead incident response and remediation efforts in case of environmental spills, releases, or other emergency situations.

Oversee investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.

Prepare detailed reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans.

Maintain accurate records and documentation for all EHS activities, inspections, and compliance reporting.

Provide guidance and mentorship to the EHS team and other department heads.

Work closely with site management, legal, and compliance teams to align EHS initiatives with overall business objectives.

Serve as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and represent the company in audits and inspections.

Occasional travel to company sites, up to 30% may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to lead cross-functional teams, implement EHS programs, and develop and conduct relevant safety trainings.

Experience with environmental permitting, audits, and reporting in highly regulated industries.

Prior experience managing safety in environments involving high electrical loads, noise, and complex equipment is preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) or equivalent years of experience.

10+ years of experience in EHS roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position, preferably within industrial, manufacturing, or energy sectors.

In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA regulations, and other relevant safety and environmental laws.

Certifications (Highly Preferred): Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP).
