Date: Oct 11, 2024Property: 131 THEORY (2146)Location: Irvine, CA, 92617Division: Apartments - Corporate (Apt Corp)The Director, Safety will be responsible for leading all safety programs and creating a safety culture for the Apartments Division. The primary focus will be on associate safety programs, prevention, and training, and property safety and function. This role will be responsible for monitoring, designing, tracking, and improving all safety programs.Leads team of Regional Safety Managers responsible for associate and property/building safety programsOversee the safety programs and conduct a monthly analysis to identify:
Incident and “near miss” trendsOpportunities to create risk reduction measuresIdentify the proper allocation of safety resources
Develop proactive processes, procedures, systems, and metrics to drive continuous improvement towards reducing exposure to hazards in the workplacePartner with Risk Management to provide operational insight in managing Workers Compensation claim processResponsible for the implementation of new and existing safety policies and protocolsEnsure compliance with safety laws, regulations and codes at the federal, state and local levels.Perform on site inspections and accident investigations of company locations.Researches, evaluates and recommends changes to operations to improve the Company’s safety performance.Monitor training compliance to ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy; follow up as needed with relevant stakeholders.Lead the development of risk mitigation tools such as workplace incident analysis, job safety analysis (JSA), root cause analysis, accident prevention plans, safe operating procedures, and monthly safety meetings.Oversees the Safety Committee and Safety Recognition; schedules and provides updates, reporting as required.Buildings Fire and Life Safety Systems Management - ensures all systems are compliant, inspections completed and updated in Building Reports. Provides monthly reports and takes follow up action as necessary.Building Systems Engineering (GRC) - Review report submitted that outlines where we are at risk for claims; review/implement recommended actions.Business continuity - Attend monthly meetings and project manage key activities such as fire drills, etc.Extensive knowledge of all current applicable safety regulations and related technologies (Cal OSHA, ANSI, federal, state and local regulations)Attends bi-weekly meetings with Sr. Director, Corporate Safety to review status of safety program, review recent incidents, ensure compliance with all safety related regulations (Cal/OSHA, CDPH, County Health, etc) and brainstorm risk mitigation initiativesCollaborates and partners with Sr. Director, Corporate Security to review and assess risk mitigation and trendsMinimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.8+ years of experience in Occupational Safety and Health management, program development and implementation.Apartment Communities or hospitality experience preferred.Other:CSP and/or ASP certification preferred.CPR and First Aid certification preferred.Knowledge of regulations/standards including Cal/OSHA, Fed/OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and federal, state, and local regulations.Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Multilingual ability a plus.Demonstrate initiative, personal awareness, professionalism, positive attitude, and integrity; exercise a high quality of customer service and leadership in all areas of performance.Must be highly analytical, inquisitive and detail-oriented.Has ability to follow instructions, be detail oriented and have good follow-through on all projects.Valid California driver’s license; Maintain continuous vehicle liability insurance as required by state law.This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company's MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.Compensation:Base Pay Range: $131,000.00 - $160,000.00Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.The Company also offers competitive benefits for full time employees including paid time off, matching 401(k), and health benefits.
