Postdoctoral Research Position in Observational Cosmology

The Rutgers University Department of Physics and Astronomy invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral research position to collaborate with Prof. Eric Gawiser on cosmological studies as part of the Simons Observatory. Assuming satisfactory performance, this postdoc will have the opportunity to continue for a third year in collaboration with Prof. Jo Dunkley at Princeton University.The postdoctoral researcher will engage in cosmological research with the Simons Observatory on topics of mutual interest. One topic of particular interest is cross-correlations of CMB data with large-scale structure, for which the postdoc will also have the opportunity to participate in the Rubin Observatory LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration. The postdoctoral researcher will be encouraged to learn new skills and will be offered conscientious mentoring and a supportive and collaborative research environment.There will be an opportunity for independent research, including access to Rutgers’ 10% share of the Southern African Large Telescope. Active research in the Rutgers Astrophysics group covers a broad range of observational and theoretical work in cosmology, dark matter, gravitational lensing, galaxy clusters, galaxy formation and evolution, star formation, astrophysical turbulence, and supernovae and their remnants.The position at Rutgers is intended to start in July 2025 and offers a competitive salary and benefits.
