Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled.POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Space Science Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research position working on simulation, modeling, and systematics mitigation for the Advanced Simons Observatory (ASO). The successful candidate will work to identify, model, and simulate important instrumental effects that limit our ability to extract cosmology results from Simons Observatory data. They will also contribute to efforts to account for these effects in automated data reduction processes.Job Responsibilities:Identify, in coordination with the broader collaboration, any systemic effects which impede science processing of Simons Observatory data.Implement software to simulate these effects and compare with real data.Assist in algorithm and software development aimed at mitigation of these effects.Assist in automating simulation and reduction operations for regular data releases.QUALIFICATIONSBasic qualifications
(required at time of application): PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a PhD (or equivalent international degree) program.Additional qualifications
